It's an experiment and we'll see how it goes.

I can't do the one way street any longer. I think its reasonable to require the buyer to pay the fees if that's what they require of THEIR buyers.

If buyers cover the fees in their sales, I'll cover the fees when I sell to them.

This may end up a disaster. ;)

i believe its the seller.....this is a good idea, i think its kinda crappy to ask a buyer to pay your fees for you...although to be 100% honest, I wouldn't really care at all if they just included it in the sales price...that whole add 3% thing is just kind of irritating....just add it into the price and I'm fine with it! please dont ask me to do math

We all agreed to Paypal terms that says the seller pays the fees.

I'm really tired of paying fees when I sell and then people expecting me to pay again when I buy.

Unfortunately, my plan won't be enforceable unless I'm willing to let things get ugly. I don't expect much honesty but it's easy to do a search and see what your buyer asks for when they're selling.

If paypal asks the seller to pay the fee, then the seller should pay. Period.

I do not see the big deal of just doing gifts on paypal to save each other money. If you are not able to gift then the buyer should just tell you the total amount with the fees included.

As soon as I see "net to me","paypal gift", or "add 3% for paypal fees" I disregard the thread. I believe that none of this should be allowed on the exchange but it does save me money.

In any website that you can purchase items from where PayPal is accepted, they never ask you to pay for any fee. So I think anytime you are buying something it should be up to the Seller to pay for all associated fees within a transaction. I own a business and we absorb all the credit card fees when our clients are paying that way. Have your price set so that it is covered

When selling, I like to post a all inclusive price, shipping and any fee's(only within the USA). I think it makes it easier for the buyer, no math to do!!
As a buyer, I typically don't mind paying the fee's, as long as its reasonable, 4% is more than the fee's are, 3% seems to be about on(2.9% plus $0.30 is what I believe it to be).
On another note, I think it should be either one of these,
Pay the fee's as a seller and charge shipping
or
Fee's paid by buyer and no charge for shipping.
I will always pass on a sale if its 4% for the fee's and $xx for shipping, thats asking a little to much.

Sellers should be responsible to account for Paypal fees & basic shipping cost to door. Though this may present the selling price undesirable, but it is what it is. If I am selling an item SUPER CHEAP CHEAP, even if I say NET to me, buyers still take it....but to some new members, they may get confuse...to make things simple, seller to calculate everything into asking price.

i.e if Net to me $100.00

then my asking price is $103.50 + $5 shipping = $108.50

done....

I've just recently started putting a PayPal price and a cash/money order price. It's worked well for me, and I don't mind the wait for a Money Order. Most people seem to just go for the PayPal price since it is much easier and faster, with the added security in case something happens. I don't see the point in being passive aggressive lie this.

Since I've been in the process of moving (from a home and office...what a PAIN) I've sold off several knives in the past month or so that were being stored in closet cabinet and frankly I didn't mind the idea of having some extra cash since SO much money is being spent by making these moves.

Anyway, with every item I've sold the listing has stated that the price covers all Paypal Fees and Shipping. I'm not fond of the idea of trying to get around the Paypal fees by having someone pay you in the form of a "gift" as they (PayPal) are providing a service and if there's a problem you'd no longer have anyway of trying to have it resolved if you claimed that the money was a gift in the first place. I believe every knife I sold shipped via Priority Mail but that's what I use for my business so I have a ton of their flat rate boxes on hand so its not very expensive at all. With their flat rate boxes it doesn't matter what the item weights as long as it fit inside the box.

You are certainly correct in fact that its a pain to pay the PayPal fees as a seller AND as the buyer. I did read the rules before selling anything but maybe there should be some agreed upon guides lines that everyone willing to follow to avoid paying fees both ways.

I will say that I've been very impressed with the Bladeforums community with regards to selling items and having no problems whatsoever. Everyone has paid quickly, I pack the knives up extremely well and the buyers are pleased and have more often than not taken the time to leave positive feedback. Buying and selling here requires trust and I've been very impressed...I certainly hope that you're able to work something out so that you're not paying the PayPal fees both ways.

Best of luck!

I could care less whichever way they ask for payment, if they have a knife i want i am going to buy it. When you start letting little things like this bug you it takes the fun out of enjoying knives as a hobby.
