iMac users? My PC PUKED and I'm thinking Mac

I have a PC but every sibling I have who's computer has crashed multiple times has replaced it with a Mac and there have been zero complaints from any. They swear by them instead of At them.
Not sure i'd ever go that route due to the additional expense but good to know. If someone has a some good reading on the Mac system, i'd be interested in reading it.

After they spent all that extra money on a Mac, nobody's gonna admit that they foolishly wasted all that extra money just so they could be less compatible. :p I kid. I kid.

IMO, if you really want to waste some extra money, and be trendy/stylish...buy a SONY. That way, at least you're still software compatible. ;-)

don't think twice - just do it mate. You'll never, ever, look back !!

no viruses, no crashing, no pop-ups asking if you are sure you want to do what you just told the machine to do, no dumb stuff

I'll never get another pc (unless they revolutionize them - added in the interests of never say never)

If you do decide to stick with a Windows based PC, the top three brands, in order, are as follows.

1. Asus
2. Toshiba
3. Sony

Forget dell, hp, gateway, acer, or whoever else.

I switched 100% to Macs about 5 years ago. I wish I had switched sooner. No looking back for me. Pay the hardware price and don't look back. :)

The Mini is the only Mac I haven't tried. But it's basically laptop components in a small box. The Mini doesn't have much for 3D graphic ability (gaming), but for anything else it should be fine, assuming its hard drive size is adequate for your needs.

I went to Mac almost 4 years ago after losing almost everything on my (POC) PC and I will never go back EVER! They are worth the extra money and the time and headaches you will save yourself will pay for it over and over again. I am also a professional photographer and for photo editing it is better as I have used both. You can get any software you want just about. Like Idaho Jarhead, I have also lost some of my trouble shooting PC skills but who cares. I do not plan on becoming a hacker or Geek Squad guy. The learning curve is short and you won't regret it.

I use both. I prefer macs, but for the bakery, where flour gets into everything, I just use cheap PC's and replace them frequently.

I love Macs. I've owned ThinkPads, multiple Dell laptops, built towers, and none of them compare to the reliability and ease of use that a Mac offers. If you use some PC specific program, then you have no option. However, if you use your computer for Office, pics, music, internet, organization, etc.....then a Mac is for you! I am on my second PowerBook, and we have an IMac as well. They are great.

Ditto, ditto, +1, amen! That's what I wanted to say, but didn't have time to compose. :D

I have a Mac Pro (8 cores, 16GB RAM), iMac, Macbook Pro 17, Macbook Pro 15, and I'm on my third iPhone. I want my iPad! :p

I have not found one program I want to run that is not available on Mac. Can you ellaborate please?

I never had virus issues with my PC, just incapable OS. I like my Mac for the fact that I don't have ANY software issues, none.

Most games, CAD, and GIS software. That covers most of what I use on the computer. Sure, you can run a virtual windows system, and get them to run, but why wouldn't you just run a windows system?

What can OS X do what Windows 7 can not?

It can run for months without rebooting. I don't worry about viruses, trojans, spyware, etc. I can buy an entire office suite for three computers for $99. I can buy the newest full operating system for $49...again, for all three of my computers. Remember, computers are made up of hardware and an operating system. Without a good operating system you don't have a good computer. So in my opinion, the only way to have a good computer is to buy a Mac and run OS X, or buy a generic PC and run Linux. But with Linux you are severely limited on commercial software and have endless compatibility issues with both the Mac and PC world.

Windows 7 can run forever too, though I don't know why you wouldn't shut down your computer when it isn't in use. I don't worry about viruses or the likes either, I know how to protect my computer. I can get entire office suites for free, for all of my computers with Open Office. Have you even used Windows 7?

Once you try Mac, You will never go back. Tried p.c. once, and within three days it crashed. Had to take it back to be cleaned up. Worked fine for a week then started showing virus warning signs, and acting erratically again. I sold it and put the money towards a Macbook pro. A little(a lot)more pricy than a pc, But I am a Happy camper now. Eight months later, and not a single problem.

Loved my Sony VAIO PC, but when it died a year ago (lasted 7 yrs) my son talked me into getting an iMac 20. Love it so much that when my wife's HP laptop dies she is going to get a MacBook. I've just upgraded to Snow Leopard, and would never go back to the PC world

I just have to ask, what kind of web sites are you guys going to to get your PC's all messed up so fast, and how many silly ads are you clicking on? As an added tip, IE should only be used for one thing, downloading Firefox or Chrome.

For all you dudes with virus issues on PC. Make sure you are running a quality antivirus program.

No, McAfee and Norton are not quality.

Big plus one bud!

I love PCs, but I also love Macs. I see both sides of the story, and I will end up with a 24" iMac running OSX and Windows 7 pro.

Perfect.

+1

Microsoft Security Essentials is a great choice, and it is free.
