International Shipping + Paypal Dispute - Laurin

I hope chargeback issued by me don't hurt your account by additional fees. Let me know asap, if you'll change your mind and do what Paypal wants from you.

Interesting. You are just going to continue on this aren't you? I already offered you a refund (publicly stated) and you said "Well, if I do then paypal isn't a guarantee anymore, so no thanks." (I am paraphrasing, if you want the email(s) posted I would be more then happy to do so.) I said again, "I'm willing to publicly state that this is what I'm willing to do, and if I don't follow through the community will hold me responsible." (Again, paraphrased). You ignored me, and the next thing I hear is "Oh, I still don't have my money."

Go complain to paypal about why they won't refund you. I'll give you a clue, right now I don't have any money.

Please be aware that you're going to have to pay full shipping costs (I prefer USPS), and tracking is normally unavailable unless you go by registered mail (minimum $15 surcharge).

I cannot be held responsible for lose of package or customs seizing it for whatever reason. I will make every attempt to help you locate your package, but there really isn't much I can do.

That being said, I have never lost a package before, and would be happy to ship it to you.

Add a base $10 for shipping making the total $210, paypal to benaroia@gmail.com. If it's less then that I'll refund, if it's significantly more I will let you know.

I'll paypal you $210 couple of minutes later, you can wrote it is sold :-)

Laurin, these quotes constitute the deal. Josh offered you the option of tracking, you turned it down. He also stated up front that he wouldn't be responsible for loss, and you agreed. If you didn't want to take responsibility, you were not obligated to.

Opening a PP dispute after you agreed to not hold Josh responsible for the knife's arrival was a crappy move on your part. Yes, Josh should've kept the receipt with the customs number, but you agreed that his responsibility ended with shipping.

You are the one not holding up your end of the agreement and now Josh is having to pay the consequences.

After re-reading things through, I believe that Josh K should not have to do a refund, and even "splitting the fees" wouldn't do Josh any justice since he's already negative on his accounts because of the paypal dispute. The terms were plain and although there isn't a physical receipt, Josh has done a lot of buying/selling/trading (I was one of them) and I believe without a doubt that he did mail the knife off.

Personally, I have two accounts in case such a matter were to arise, two bank accounts, two paypals, etc...If one goes down, I'm not completely out of commission. May be something to consider in the future...

I have another paypal account, but this is the "verified, has a credit card, has a paypal debit card, had a 'verified' address, had since dawn of time" paypal account. The other is just a emergency account, or for personal transactions where I don't have fees.

Well I hope this works out in your favor Josh.

I have dealt with Josh before, and given his excellent track record here, I have no reason to believe he is at fault. And it seems his terms were clearly stated before the transaction took place.

Laurin you should retract your claim.

Too late, considering all the damage, to make things right.

What I don't understand is, where's the money?
Did laurin send the $210?
Did Josh get it?

Josh got hit for $150 in fees. That's never coming back. But who has the $210?

Well right now most of that money is sitting around my house.

Specifically:

$140

$30

The rest?

OK, so at least that much worked out.
PP bugging you to give it back cost those fees, though.

True, so if you balance it out I really didn't make much, probably spent what I did "make" in Tylenol, and traded a knife for welding gear.

They also said that Global Express (which is about $25) might be able to track it, but that it was extremely unreliable especially to places other then the UK, Germany, and France.

Weird.
Global Express is an "EMS", express mail service, i.e. postal operators should adhere to this:
http://www.ems.coop/site/Main.php?Oid=238&Lid=1

Note: "Electronic tracking has become an integral part of the EMS service." "That is why, in 2007, members changed the EMS Cooperative Statutes to make tracking a membership requirement."

So it should work for ALL members of the EMS Cooperative - you can see the list either here: http://www.ems.coop/site/Main.php?Oid=250&Lid=1
or here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Express_mail#EMS_Cooperative_members

I am simply repeating what I was told. They said it's unreliable to (their words, not mine) "nonmajor countries."

I've been told the exact same thing here at my post office :thumbdn: It DOES work for Canada, the Aussies, and the Brits, everywhere else is a "it may or it may not get scanned."

Strange informations from yours post offices, EMS is fully tracked on my every shipment for which I used this shipping method. Don't they have Internet ?
