Is anyone still excited about the Izula folder?

I am very much looking forward to the new Izula folder. Most of what I carry are folders, and this folder looks like it will be the perfect size for me.

If the izula's not going to be a frame lock does that mean it's going to be a liner lock then? Is the change in design so that rowen can make the izula?

I don't know since they said they worked out the "licensing" on the lock. I don't think you really have to do any licensing with a regular liner lock or lockback as those are so common at this point. I have no idea who would own the patents on those.

I'll take a swing (which may be a huge miss;) ) Triad or Axis :)

I for one am looking forward to it. I have a HEST/F on pre-order, but I think the Izula folder would suit me better for EDC.

Although I would prefer it to be a liner lock.

I'm tempted, but I already have the RC3 and I don't use it (because I don't want to mar it's perfectness in any way, shape or form ;).
I get lots of use out of my RC4 and 6 though.

I want one, I need a folder to open for only one purpose, which is why I'd rather have the Izula than the HEST in a folder...of course I'll have my fixed HEST not far away for other needs

Not framelock is :). I don't much like them for reasons already mentioned.

Backlock/triad would be nice, but probably not going to happen/

Doesn't really matter to me what sort of locking mechanism it has. I'm sure that the guys here at ESEE will make sure that it can stand up to the rigors of field use.

Us lefties usually tend to feel differently ha. I'd really prefer an ambi lock and one that won't disengage if held in the left hand gripped hard. Kinda don't think that is going to happen though.

I agree...If the folks at ESEE make it you can be sure it will be tough and can take some abuse.

I have the HEST folder on pre-order but still more excited about this little folder. I think it will make a great EDC knife.

izula folder will be a must since its cheaper that the hest folder

I'm taking a wild stab in the dark, but I would think Spyderco's compression lock would work well... The Izula folder reminds me of Spyderco's Junior concept model by Dialex. I recall hearing that the only lock that would really work well on that model was the compression lock. Whatever the case, I'm really interested in this folder, since I've always thought the Izula looked like an extremely comfortable and useful design. I've never tried it out however because I live in California and pretty much stick to folders as a result. Needless to say, I'm very excited about ESEE's foray into the folder market.

triad would be epic. Then I'd want compression or backlock before axis or linerlock.

personally don't care about framelocks, as they're usually only as strong as liner locks anyways, if not weaker.

I've lived in Cali my whole life and it is legal to carry a fixed blade. It needs to be out in the open and there is no written size limit as far as I know, but I wouldn't get carried away. The only time this changes is when you head into a big city like SD or SF. Most large cities have their own laws on fixed blade carry, so you need to check it out depending on where your going. I really liked it MUCH more when I was still active in the Marine Corps as I could carry just about any damn thing I wanted to.

Semper Fi brother!

I think he probably knew all of this. To most people this still means no fixed blade carry in California. I know of all these laws, yet I still often just say that I can't carry a fixed blade.

Personally, I find having to strap a knife on my belt, then make sure my shirt is tucked in completely and no scrap of clothing ever covers the knife so I don't get felony concealed weapon charges is a bit much. It pretty much takes all the allure out of a knife like the Izula, which is just at home in a pocket sheath, or hanging from your neck under your shirt, as anything else.

I don't really need a monster folder,so yes,I'm looking forward to the Izula version more.
