Is Snody Crazy

why does he have a wu-tang clan symbol tattoo?

Not sure exactly.....the one they call "X" was involved deeply in the music industry before making it to the promised land. He's got all kinds of connections in that regard. :D

I want more of the Mike Snody expose. We still don't know if he's crazy, only that a $100 bill has grit.

ahhhh would explain things...frankly i dont care whose making my knives, as long as my knives are sharp, look badass, and are functional for my needs. :D

Very true, but can an individual assess their own sanity? I can proudly say that Mike is a good friend of mine and one thing is for sure, if he's crazy it's because he's eating, sleeping, drinking and dreaming about knives 24/7. He almost never repeats old patterns without making some kind of improvement on them. The real message Mike is trying to get out to his customers is that he plans on making knives until he dies. I don't know about you, but I prefer to buy my weapons from companies and individuals that are in the game for the long haul, are making constant improvements and are doing everything within their powers to stay in business and be successful. A very big Thank You goes to Mike, his efforts and more importantly, his knives.

Can mike do an expose on the grit quality of other bills? from the humble $1 to the $100...maybe the uses of pennys, nickels, dimes and quarters on knives?

Right F'n On! By that logic I'm happily crazy too! I've never owned anything besides BM 425(and 6), but I know he knows his stuff. If lighting a cigar with a $100 bill brings attention to your knives, sweet. Pimp is not a noun to Mike, Pimp is an adjective.

Thats what I am talking about right there. Very well stated!

Like I said....the knives he makes look cool. I'm sure they're quality too. On the other hand I have this "thing" against thugs/pimps/badasses etc.

I might buy one of his knives if it was easily available, or if the prices were really low (honestly...I've been looking at those bailout knives of his because of that)

However the "gangsta" personna and limited availability of his stuff just make it less attractive for me.

And since there are so many other cool makers out there, they'll get my preference.

Snody found his marketing strategy, his own little niche market and that's cool. He makes good looking things.

But he probably won't het his hand on my €€€ for a while.

This isn't a marketing strategy LX Emergency. This is real.

I've had a couple Snody knives and they're excellent. Have corresponded with Mike via internet once or twice and he seems like a decent person.

Regarding whether or not "this is real." I mean all the search tags on his youtube videos are words like: pimp, shawtie, hustler, gold teeth, even "Lil Wayne" lol. Is this his actual target market? I don't follow pimp/thug trends, so in all earnestness: does Mike have a following in the gangsta hip hop community? Is a Snody knife a must have along with gold teeth and blinged out rims?

Or is this more like a thing where dude's sorta marching to his own drummer? Either way it's entertaining.

I've never met him but , through his video's I like him. I've hod the good luck of getting in on a couple of his sales.

I think the video's probably show him as he really is. That's cool with me. When I observe things I prefer to watch the leader not the followers.

I remember one of Mikes threads stating he was on top of the world , went through hell and landed under the dump pile and fought his way back to the top and thats why "he is how he is". There was actually quite a bit more to it than that but of course I shortened it.
If he enjoys what he's doing and makes a good living at the same time more power to him !

Whether his videos are all smoke and mirrors or if they accurately represent the real man it's still marketing. Snody's marketing does effectively draw attention to his products, so difficult to fault the strategy. Obviously, as with most bold attempts at marketing, some will find it a turn-off, others will be drawn in, and others are just interested in the quality of the product and don't give a rats ass about the marketing. Seems like all of these responses are represented throughout this thread.

It may be marketing but if so it's unintentional.

I doubt someone would go to the expense of getting gold teeth for marketing. I'm pretty sure the way he is in the youtube videos is the same way he is on a day to day basis.

We as the knife community are really lucky to have someone like Mike Snody. There's no one else like him and his knives are awesome. Snody is one of the legends, right up there with people like Jerry Busse, Chris Reeve, and Bob Terzuola. I'm not just saying this because I want to compliment someone, this is how I genuinely think.

a lot of folks seem to choose/not choose their knives/tools according to some moral code of ethics. I doesn't bother me if a maker talks ganster but isn't, actually jungle tests his knives, lied/didn't lie about military service, or bad mouthed any number of other makers.
If I like the looks of the knife (I personally love Snody's designs), it works as it should, and I can trust it to do it's intended job, I'll buy it. I don't care if the maker talks with a lisp and wears frilly pink dresses when he grinds. It has nothing to do with the end product in my opinion.

You are right on several levels.....Mike does like gold teeth, that's why he bought them. Does it add to his persona and is it shocking to some? Yes.

As far as what Mike has done for the knife community, you are right on target and Mike isn't done yet. His efforts are not only to increase his customer base, but to increase the whole knife buying pie, if you will. In other words, we brought in new customers that had no intentions of buying a knife until they watched our videos. Now, thanks to Mike, for every knife collector who's wife has told him, NO MORE KNIVES (due to the economy), Mike has replaced them with a new customer.

Also, would someone that was thinking about giving up knifemaking and going back to their job at Home Depot spend hour after hour making hundreds of videos for his customers and fans? Thanks for all of the positive input in this thread, you guys rock. :D

This thread is running low on photos....I'm adding a few here:

I tend to be rather picky about whose pockets I'm lining with my knife buying dollars but in this case there's no decision to be made since I don't find the knives that desirable to begin with. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I couldn't help but notice, though, that he did manage to get the oversized baseball cap on straight. The hat makers must have taken my advice to include instructions.

That's cool. I did a search on your posts here in BF and for the life of me couldn't find any posts where you actually bought any knives from anyone??! All I could find was a bunch of posts of you whining and crying about things. At any rate, Mike is going to respond to your comment about the baseball cap. (BTW, if you make it to Blade, maybe you can ask Mike yourself about the baseball cap). I'm not sure exactly why he wouldn't be wearing it straight, but he's going to discuss it in his next video. Mike is going through this thread and is responding to each post one by one with a video response.

Here's the next installment, enjoy:

It's ok if you were hating on Mike Snody on page 2 of this thread and then on page 6 you decide you have to have one of Mike's knives......that's totally cool, we understand that things change and we have no problem taking your money. Many of Mike's customers used to be full blown haters. :D
