Some great finds as always. The falls city is awesome:thumbsup:, Looks like its been used a few times and forgotten about, so little wear. Any idea what the use of the square hole in the (kent pattern?) Is? What is the black handled tool, an early spokeshave type tool? Seems like a bit of an awkward handle possition, do the wing nuts allow for them to be moved outward? Sorry for all the questions but im clueless and curious. Didn't know batman used a poleaxe lol.;)

The square hole is for turning bolts, it's a lineman hatchet. The drawknife is a folding handle Pexto. It just folds to store in a smaller space.

I see. Feel dumb not knowing what a drawknife is, never done much woodworking apart from in high school when we made some small boxes. That was a few years ago now.

I picked up this 21" bow saw for $5 Because I needed one, but now im trying to identify it because it's different than I've seen before.
Every bow saw I've seen before has a long tab that sticks in for one end of the blade to attach to sort of like a hacksaw, and they use the standard blades with a " tang " ? On each end.
This one's does not, it's blade only has the extending
" tang " on one end of it's blade and it attaches directly to the tension lever / grip.

It's marked with nothing more than a patent number and has some evidence of a sticker on the body / tube. my phone couldn't support the whole document and pictures so all I know is that the particular number was granted in 1967.
I have no clue if that patent number is actually for this or if it's even a US Pat number.

I knocked the rust off the blade with some 220 wet dry, and didn't find any markings just as I suspected.

aww, someone's replaced the blade, that's a pity, in the drawings it's peg and raker, not plain tooth
Because this doesn't take a run of the mill blade and what's on it doesn't appear to be modified, I'm thinking this is probably just a later production saw.
Maybe you are right though it very well could've been replaced.
It would be awesome if the blade on it was peg and raker, but its razor sharp and cuts very well so I'm not complaining.

It looks like you got yourself Craftsman bow saw.

Thanks.
Knowing Vermont American I suspected they produced it for sticker branding, and knew Craftsman was a good possibility.
I know they were supplying tool boxes for sears starter tool kits back in the 80's.
My dad bought a Sears set back in the mid 80's , it was a Vermont American hip roof box with mostly cheap Sears branded tools , and a pair of Craftsman tongue and groove pliers.

i love craftsman saws, i have one, i don't recall the length exactly but it's one of the wide ones with a big "belly" and quite long too, best thing is i found another one so i have a replacement blade if mine ever snaps, the blades are truly wonderful

Do you guys think I should paint this or leave it as is ?

I'm thinking it's just a bow saw, and the thick red enamel paint wouldn't be too easy to get off with what I've got.
It would look nice in orange, but it doesn't look too bad as is.
