It followed me home (Part 2)

Wood can be frozen to kill anything living in it. Here in Hawaii it is done all the time with imported furniture. I have been experimenting with this method. Any species, and there is a WIDE variety here, I have cleaned out the bugs with 5-7 days in my freezer.
PS-Be sure to pull the head before you put it in the freezer.

Cops at the door. Husband looks at wife and says: Hmmmm.. It must be my "new" vintage hewing hatchet. Honey, I told you many times: Never ask our guests to grab some ice cream from the freezer.

I've also read that the wood can be frozen to kill anything in there. For example, a piece of furniture can be put into a walk-in freezer for a couple weeks.

Barring a freezer big enough, my brother just recommended an air-tight contractor bag set in the sun - don't know if that would do it though.
Maybe put some cotton balls soaked in something "Life Unfriendly" in there that won't stain or ruin the wood or more importantly, poison you afterwards - I've never done it but as mentioned, nothing does well being frozen.

I was driving around today for entertainment. Okay, these two didn’t come home with me but I did get a picture:

It’s around here if someone needs it…
This True Test I thought interesting just due to the label and "M" marking:

This did come home with me though. I have mixed feelings when I encounter the "Duct Tape Surprise" - HB double bit 4lb:

I don’t remember what their Permabond was called right off, but this has it:

Bah, that head is good even if the handle is trash.

These axes i got yesterday at a barn sale. I already cleaned both and hung the Snow & Neally. The other axe is pretty large. The only stamp on it is 3 1/2. That's it. But it weighs #4-4.4oz!? Anyone recognize this axe having just the weight stamp? By the way, this is not my sharpening job... haven't got that far yet.

And I'm going to post more of this one on the other thread. But it did follow me home yesterday! Its a pretty darn good one. I've been having amazing luck finding s&n's. I think I'm up to 14 or 15 of them. Quality axes in my experience.

Put more details on these in the crosscut saw thread. 3 Really nice disstons, and a western handle that looks like it's never been used.

oh my word those are beautiful! Where the heck did you find something that nice??
I'm pretty pumped about my finds today. Only three items but i still feel rich... i have a local amateur antique dealer guy looking for axes for me. He tore down an old horse stall in his 1843 timber frame barn and found a very interesting pattern broad axe. There are no markings whatsoever on it but its awesome just the same i think. Also a D.D Terrill saw co. axe(my first one! ) and lastly an extremely sharp Kearny&Foot wood rasp. Cuts like a dream! Ok enough writing!

This axe weighs #3-1.1oz

Does any one know what pattern this is? Mast axe? Kent?

He's the one that i bought the last two axes from and he's looking for more for me! Handles too!

Hoosier. You see a Hoosier pattern maybe?

I thought adz type thing...I'd hate to think that was made to hit the dirt...insult to injury for that Legitimus Connie Beauty

I thought the other head was a Hoosier but i see now it's a connie. I would go back and edit my comment but it'd be pointless now seeing as so many people have quoted it
