What’s the “pie iron” looking thing. For casting lead weights?
Yep, those are for lead sinkers, looks to be for 1oz'ers.What’s the “pie iron” looking thing. For casting lead weights?
Yes, fishing sinkers. What’s the “pie iron” looking thing. For casting lead weights?
That is actually a translucent oil stone that needs a lot of attention. But it is almost 2” thick!! Thickest I have found.
That looks Romulan.![]()

This stone and this splitting winged super wedge from the treasures I picked up the other day.
I have not come across either before

Second from the top looks pretty nice!
I’ve used a woodsplitter with a wedge set up like that, but never seen a hand held one. Nice find!

Slip stone. For gouges or a big ole bowl adze.
That looks Romulan.
U.S. Patent 4,209,046
Awesome haul. That stone looks great compared to the last one I found. 2" thick you won't wear it out in your lifetime. There may be a better way to dress them but I have been using a diamond plate. Anyone have another method?
Another trip to the city revealed more treasures for me! That is actually a translucent oil stone that needs a lot of attention. But it is almost 2” thick!! Thickest I have found. Then there is the spokeshave. It is stamped (body and iron), Bailey’s Patent July 1858. It is a Leonard Bailey adjustable spokeshave. That is before Stanley was ever in the picture! Very cool! Then there was the hardware store plane, eggbeater drill, the Stanley brace and the Stanley square you can see in the vice. The stone and the spokeshave were my two best finds. All of it was $28. $18 on the spokeshave.
Edit: let me clarify “before Stanley was in the picture” meaning before they took over Bailey’s patents. They were around.
