It followed me home (Part 2)

I assume this was a toy... not a toffee brittle hatchet.?
It’s heavy for its size at a lofty 2oz.

But what’s cool about it is the handle, it shows damage from miss-strikes and it’s old enough to have a wormwood hole! lol

Check that big one out carefully, I have one that looks very similar that I didn't see had a shallow stamp until I hit it with a fine wire brush in the dremel. Turned out to be a Maydole, big and heavy for a claw hammer probably around 28 oz.

A couple of no name hammers that just looked interesting. They probably aren't worth the couple of bucks I spent but they're cool.

Thank you. I'll check it out.

Got a shape to it for sure.
Now that's extremely cool.
I'm sure were I to find one of these on eBay it could easily cost me a whole days wages, so I don't think I'll ever have one.

I bid on a nice old Stilleto flooring hatchet last week but it went for a little more than I was willing to pay.

Boy the prices I've payed for things recently really makes me wish I had payed the $30 the guy wanted for a plumb saddle axe at the swap meet about 6 years ago.
I tell ya it's definitely the one that got away.

That's awesome man! Did you know it was a keen kutter prior to cleaning it? What a great addition to your collection. Congrats on a great score! You'll have to change your user name to "greatscorenstien!. Lol. I see it came with a grellner patent wedge. That pin needs some work but that steel is easily workable. Good stuff.

Yes i could make out the stamp when i saw it,have found several keen kutters that have been worn out and the stamp all mashed up and thought i had found another.Know what you mean HnS its the garage sale season up here and they are everywhere some of these old suburbs going on eighty years old there aint know telling what you can find.

You guys are lucky.
Around me is mostly Mexicans and whoever moved Into the developments of new houses that have been built in the past decade.
Basically this means people who immigrated here in the mid 80's at the most, and you g families who certainly don't have any kind of quality vintage tools to sell.
Sure you'll find the occasional axe or hatchet among all the clothes, but they're always made in Mexico or China.

There's a flea market in the area with a few tables that usually have tools of some degree, but it's a Saturday thing and working weekends I'm usually too tired to go.
Not that there's often much good left by the time I can get there.
