A good day!

A Kelly Perfect, Volcan, Registered. Boys axe with wedge outs might have a name. Collins hook is a Hartford Legitimus. M W H Co cruiser. All priced right from a store. That black DBL bit in the middle is a Coast to Coast, I figure it got lost in the feeding frenzy :o.
you have got to be kidding me... that's crazy :)

I
It was. The most expensive was the Volcan DB on the far right because it had a good handle @ 12.50. It was about 4 trips to the car with loot.
As I was packing things to the counter an old Buckeroo come in and was talking to the owner saying " whats he want them for, hell they don't even have a handle":).

I used to see stashes like that, but I think there are others around here keeping the local junk shops cleaned out. The few heads I see anymore are mostly overpriced. There are still good deals at garage sales, but I have to wait until summer for those.:(

I did pretty well with black smith tools also:).

Awesome! And a Union Pacific axe would be a cool score if that's what it stands for.

I just spent way to much on a rafting axe. I just like it. Got in a bit of a bidding war. I hope I didn't step on anyone's toes here.

But the poll is what did it for me. I really like the waffle pattern.

Dang nice axe, Square Pegs. And a five pounder. I bet you got a short straight handle lined up for that? I have never seen them with a milled poll like that. I guess it would make make since. Easier to drive a log dog.

I'm guessing that will become one of your favorites, Pegs. A five-pound sledgehammer coupled with a kicka$$ axe. Great to see polls stay in such good shape, despite being used for pounding metal.

A good day!

Garry, do I dare ask where such a marvelous store can be found? :D

No problem, you can ask:cool:. I was surprised that you had not already been there!
As strange as it sounds I am starting to believe in Karma. I voluntered to take my wife Christmas shopping. Which is way out of character for me(I had ulterior motives ;)). Any way I would have never found them had I not taken her shopping. This Karma thing is great.

You know how sometimes you buy an axe and the next day end up thinking that you paid too much? Well that didn't happen. Instead I looked at the pics today and thought, "damn, what a fine axe!"
I can't wait to get my grubby paws on it.

I got a couple more stamped heads: Keen Kutter on the left and another Buhl Sons Co of Detroit. 1.25 lb and 2.75 lb if we can believe my kitchen scale.

Them scales are plenty good for our purposes. Since my wife bought one I find my self useing it alot more than she does.

Nice finds :)

Heck, I use our kitchen scale all the time for axe head weights. It's accurate, it measures the same as the butcher shops from my comparisons.

Thanks for the votes of confidence on the kitchen scales. I got the Buhl because it's a different weight and in better shape than my other one, thought the stamp is less clear. And there's no such thing as too many Keen Kutters.
I never heard of Buhl, and then I find 2 in as many months.
Sorry about the picture quality, by the way- pretty bad even for Winter in Michigan.

These are a couple of pics for Pegs or anyone else that would like to see them :)
This is/was a brand new Japanese Dozuki saw that I picked up at my favorite pawn shop awhile back.
He wanted 30 bucks for it, but let me take it home for $15 ;)
These baby's normally sell for between 50 and 60 bucks.

This thing has been a wonderful addition to my 'axe shop'. I've wanted one for awhile, but didn't have the $, so once I found this brand new unopened one at the pawn shop, I couldn't pass it up.
I would recommend one if these to anyone's work shop. They're handy little buggers.
