This was a tough one.
I'll have to remember not too ask such difficult questions. Put a lot of thought into it. Spent a long time trying to convince myself that my Puma bootknife would make a good skinner. I really wanted to bring my Buck Ranger, can't imagine anything that would hurt it. But to be practical, I figured fixed blades had be to more rugged.
So here it is:
-Cold Steel Tanto with kydex sheath (for the tough stuff)
-Ithaca Track drop point (4" sturdy blade) an oldie, but a goodie
(A Spyderco Moran would have filled this slot nicely but I don't have one...yet)
Note to self: Buy Spydie Moran before collapse of society.
-Standard Leatherman (cause it's the only one I have)
As I said before, I find an Arkansas stone works best for me on all knives.
Of course I'll need some place to keep the stone. Luckily, my sling has a pouch that will fit it nicely. Luckier still, that sling is attached to my 12 gauge Ithaca Lightweight Turkey gun.
That should handle things too big for the Tanto.
See, bcaffrey, there are other ways to slip extra weapons under the wire without having your dog carry them.
Everyone, thanks for the great answers and if anyone feels the need to add some 12 gauge sharpening stone carriers to their list, feel free.
Then of course there's the Spyderco Delica tie clip (you never know who you'll meet at an Apocalypse)
