It you could only have 1 knife...?

Doc,

It was my pleasure. It was fun to see what all of us thought were the tools we'd take with us when our lives depended upon their performance.

BTW... the Dozier Yukon Pro Skinner (like all of his knives) is a wonderful tool... it stays sharper longer than any other knife I've tried... it's very rugged for a "hunting" knife... it begs to be used, and used hard often... you couldn't go wrong.

Thanks for the thread Doc, in fact I was comin' in today to post a similar one when I found yours, mainly same scenario, down to two knives, fixed and folder plus a multi-tool for stuff. I was going to qualify it by saying that you can pick only from what you currently own.

My options would be;
11 1/2" blade tanto A2 chisel edge, epoxy coated cordwrapped rayskin handle (made by me, an RJ Martin inspiration)
Sebenza
the new Swiss Army Tool

(also a plasma rifle in the 40 watt range)

It's tough to leave any behind!

The Uluchet, yes I build it and would also bet my life on it's performance. The other knife I would take is my .357 for cutting nice round holes when needed.

Hey guys...wait for me!!! Am I too late??? If I had to choose from my current collection I'd take the following...

-BM 910 Stryker satin finish w/ satin clip
-A fixed blade my grandfather gave me.
-Leatherman Wave tool

Firearm: Remington 870 Express Magnum.

If I could take anything:

-BM Stryker in M2
-BM 140 Nimravus in M2
-Leatherman Wave or a SOG

Firearm: Benelli 12G

Near the top of my list of stuff to help me survive is my home. Why the heck would I head for the hills??? I'll stay home with all my knives, guns, ammunition, and a lot of other useful stuff, and defend it. Especially if it's winter -- and even if it isn't winter, it's gonna be....

-Cougar Allen :{)

Chris Reeve Gerbone (or Randall 14)
Large Sebenza
Supertool
Sharpmaker

Guns:
Small .22 revolver or Ruger .22 Standard Auto
Lightweight bolt rifle in .223 or .308.

There's some knives I'd probably choose that I don't currently have. Well, I'll give it a try. Cold Steel Bush Ranger Spyderco Calypso Jr. Leatherman Wave Spyderco Sharpmaker ..........and a Chris Reeve Sebenza that I'd sneak along somehow! (in my stocking?)

I will choose from what I have on hand, though all these posts have me thinking about a Busse basic...

Sebenza
Gerber Multi Lock
Grandfathers Bayonette (with attached M1)

Given the Mad Max scenario, I would opt for a Leatherman Supertool on the grounds it is the toughest of the multi-tools and scavenging/ cannibalizing mechanical stuff may be high priority (throw in the optional tool kit with a customized selection of bits and sockets.)
My folder would be a folding camp saw, and a machete would round out my kit.

Ooooooohhhhh, all that expense just going to lay there waiting for some looter to leave finger prints all over my knives......:-) Ok the choices are...
Carson U2 tanto blade
AFCK
Wave or Supertool
Spyderco Sharpening set

Sig 228
Springfield M1A

All of this stuff would be attatched to my tac-vest. later all

Anybody seen the bactine, please?!?!?!?

Ok, so I'm a few months behind on posting. . . but I have to say from my current collection it would be the:

Chris Reeve/Al Mar collaborative fixed blade
Large Sebenza
Leatherman Wave

Leslie

1) CS Kukri - 12" blade
2) Mad Poet's 6" Utility Fighter

2-knives would be all I would be able to carry for all the guns & ammo I'd need. I too also like the .22 for a survival gun, only mine's a .22 mag from Ruger.

Why would anybody want to carry a folder in a survival situation?

I'm startled how many folks listed folders in response to this question. I LOVE folders, nearly all my knives are folders, but in a world without society why in the world would anyone carry a folder over a fixed-blade?

My picks:
15" Combat Machete of my own make.
Blackjack 5 1/2" Subhilt Skinner (or my own 5 1/2" "survival" design if I've put a handle on it by the apocalypse)
Leatherman Wave

Fun thread, I'm glad it's been dredged up.
