You don't like my price, that's fine someone else will buy it, otherwise I wouldn't have a business.

I think this might be where many folks have an issue. For most this is not a business but a hobby and a passion. This comment speaks volumes.

I for one hope you sell knives for crazy high prices. Just makes my collection all the more valuable, so keep up the good work.

It is posts like this where to some extent you do miss some of the old Hogs .... guys like Tony G who could add a witty comment with some sexual innuendo and have us all laughing fit to bust .... I am no good at things like that but here is an interesting tale from the past ....

Back in the Fall of 08 the show at Knob Creek had a similar "post mortum" going on .... a guy had turned up wanting to buy an AK47 ( maybe got the knife wrong as memory fades but whatever knife it makes no odds ) having heard they were going to be released and was upset he had arrived early doors and none were there and had been sold .... now there is the classic case of a guy doing a trip etc just to get the one knife .... he did'nt land it and "all was unfair" .... but in reality if you are going for just the one knife of a limited model and limited stock and you don't factor in what to do if you can't get it .... then financially you are going to suffer and in his case uneccessarily ....

I was at that show and so was Roenman and Eric .... they knew I had come over from the UK and whilst I was deliberating on what to buy they and a few others like Hammy all helped with advice ....

On the table were 8 or 9 of the 1-13 NMFBM's with the last of the snakeskin grips .... and a lot of custom and regular SFNO's .... they were there all day Friday and Saturday and come Sunday at around tea time Roenman said that those who were coming had got to have had their chance at what they wanted and he and Eric stepped up to the plate. Eric bought all the 1-13's which were there and Roenman took a good haul of SFNO's and a few customs like an Artic White Bolo etc and now years later I am sure Roenman did OK moving them on and Eric probably landed the catch of all time as those knives have gone on to become legendary classic's.

Weirdly though they were still there at the end of the show ... infact Eric has said on many occaisions that he has picked up his most envied and admired blades at the end of the shows .... and the same is perhaps true of this last one .... there were certainly a number of Nuclear KZ's that I saw and they will probably go on to have the same status as the 1-13 snakeskins ....

The point I am trying to make is that often when you have the buying power and the "eye" to pick up great piece's you don't have to jump in early to land them .... the expensive ones often remain on the table .... but it gives everyone going to a show a chance to "eye the candy" and enjoy the knives ....

If your running a business you obviously need "stock" .... but you also need "goodwill" ... if you wait things out you can much more easily aquire "both" ....

There is nothing wrong with what Dan is doing in making a few bob at turning over knives .... it does offer many a chance at what they want and for others is cheaper than going to a show ... but when you have the buying power of Dan you have to factor in when is the right time to pick up the stock ... that's all I mean't in my post regarding the show .... as for me it would be a long trip for my next one and seeing some of the "eye candy" would be a treat .... like as not I could'nt afford them but it would be nice to see them .... and if Dan picked them up I would have no qualms at all buying them from him at a later date if I had come into some cash or was able to trade a few knives with him ....

One of the best features of traders like Dan is that they will often take a P/X which enables you to afford that "grail" which you could'nt buy for cash at the show ....

There is plenty of room on here for guys who help like that in my book ....

It would be nice if this forum was back to enjoying Busse (or any other brand) knives and the other joys of life. The older you get, the more you think about enjoying the time you have left. It is after all, a limited amount of time.................................. [/SIZE]

:D

It was nice back in 1971 when you can get a Hemi Cuda for under $5000 but the rarity and high demand has driven the price up to over $3 million dollars for a decent condition one. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to have fun driving that around now for under $5K?

Some old timers are still here, we just sit back and try to finger out WTF is going on, then we strike with the cloven hooves of a wild Scrofa! EEEEEK!!!!
