It's past time to stop attacking Liu Kang.

Yep, Oeser set me up with some sweet green linen scales for next to nothing too. He's a scoundrel in Hogs clothing!!! Dang your generosity Oeser.

Just read the page and realised I posted a serious post when everyone else was having a laugh ... :D:D:D ... :foot:

Oh yeah, I'm feelin' it now . . .;)

Just read the page and realised I posted a serious post when everyone else was having a laugh ... :D:D:D ... :foot:

See, the young little HOGs can have some fun too.:D:thumbup:

Yeah ... as you get older you miss out on the "fun" .... apparently there are some tablets that help ....:D:D

I'm of two minds when it comes to "flipping" knives -- on the emotional side, it seems wrong to profit (excessively) from someone in a fraternal group (your friends), but the more rational side of me considers my Busse collection to be an investment, and what's the purpose of an investment if not to eventually turn a profit? I don't like it when prices are removed from completed sales because I like to see how prices are trending. I can find release prices for most Busse Combat knives on "Busse Collector", but that tells me nothing about current market values -- that's a big part of what makes the Exchange a resource for both buyers and sellers, so that neither operates in an information vacuum.

As to "old hogs", there's turnover in any group. I've got nothing against the old guard, but I've always resented the perception that newcomers are less valuable customers. Jerry has explicitly stated that isn't so, and I'm a bit prickly when told that old hogs "deserve" special consideration; if folks want to participate in the forum, that's cool, and if they don't, that's cool too. However, don't expect me to jump out of the way or bite my tongue because I'm an online inductee who wasn't standing in line to buy Jerry's first knife. This may be a bit much in response to your comment, which was intended to be about a general lack of courtesy, but the "old hog" vs "new hog" thing is an issue that pushes my buttons.

Oh, for the record: I don't recall making any bad comments toward Liu Kang -- if I have a problem with a behavior, I try not to focus my comments on the behavior rather than on an individual.

I'm just not a fan of flipping. Seems dishonest and unethical.

If somebody wants to make a business out of selling knives why shouldn't they????

I don't see how you can call a simple buy and sell transaction dishonest.

I have not dealt with him personally but I will bet all my Busse knives that if he was dishonest it would be all over this and other forums in 5 minutes flat.

I keep typing and retyping serious responses only to erase them because I know it will end in drama. People will always find someone to blame for high prices. if it's not liu kang it's Jerry himself, as though his hand directly forced after market prices up. sigh....

teh drama :thumbdn:

Let's say a real newbie dumbass sells a dead mint Meaner Street Limited Edition for $340. Now one hasn't been sold in quite a while so if someone searches it, finds that's how much it sold for, they will assume that is how much that knife is worth

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Sometimes people set the price low on purpose to offer a decent deal to those who might not have been so lucky...... Now, the real dumbasses are the ones who think they can get 500 for a PT5. Come on, it's no Force One .

People come, people go.....

I'm not here as much as I use to be because some forum members took my humor as serious. So posting things that were purely fun or funny to me got bent out of shape by the "George W. Bush" brand of stupid and it just wasn't fun any more.

The obtuse (dull minded) comments seem to be mellowing so I'm around more.

Specifically if Liu is here to make a buck I don't care as long as he post some funny stuff that makes me smile. If I smile when I come here I buy Busse knives; if it bores me silly I go do something else.... it is just that simple.

Go figure....

Then I'll change my name to Poon Tang . . . Oh wait, . . .:foot::confused:

I got confused there for a second. I do like orangutans though, but I have nightmares that one shows up and rips my arms out of their sockets.:confused:

That is funny :D

.
That is another thing about the Busse forum that has changed, threads get locked down too fast, it seems like a discussion can't happen that turns a little controversial without getting locked down!

.

And that IS the truth

I had the pleasure of a transaction with Dan. He treated me fairly. No complaints here. Yeah, he makes money on the knives he sells. If you don't like it then dont buy any.

Nuff said.

I had a roomate who was absolutely bonkers. He sounded totally normal until you had to live with him, then you started to see some of his off the wall way of looking at things.

We were going to choose rooms in a house we had rented and we were deciding on who was going to get the biggest room. He wanted the room next to the bathroom because he was frustrated in his last house having to walk down a hall. When my other roomate talked about what he would do with the space in that room, bonkers roomate threw a fit. a fit, like 2 seconds from stomping his feet on the ground. So me and another roomate said 'I want the big room'. I said "I'll pay 450." he said "I'll pay 550." I said "I'll pay 650" He stopped, thought about and said "I'll pay 675" to which I said "okay. It's yours."

The bonkers roomate got really flustered and told us "you can't do it like that, you need to check the square footage of the room and price it as a percentage of the houses square footage." we looked at him and said "okay, what if it's 400$. he'll say 'I'll pay 675' will you pay 675?" "well... no, but it's not fair unless you charge it according to the square footage".

He was serious. dead serious. The idea that square footage didn't matter and that it would inevitably go to the highest bidder just didn't make sense to him. In the end I took the smallest room with a balcony, which sucked because I had 3 times as much stuff as anyone else, almost to much for the biggest room. highest bidder (675) got the big room, fourth roomate got an open space downstairs. Bonkers roomate got his beloved room next to the bathroom.

one year later. fourth roomate who got the open space next to the living room was complaining about how it would get down to 40 degree's in his room. The bonkers room mate complained about how his room never got any sun so it was cold too, but it had a heater register so it wasn't so bad. I mentioned that my room, being the only room facing the sun (at both dawn and dusk) was constantly warm throughout the year. Bonkers room mate then interjects 'well if I didn't have so much stuff and you guys forced me out of it I would have had a chance at the balcony room. Thats the one I wanted from the beginning.'

All we could do was look at him and grit our teeth. When he moved in he had a bed and a dresser. But, If we called him out on it he would just get angry and say everyone was against him, that we were jerks for all ganging up on him and telling lies.

If you don't like the price, find another seller. If you can't find another seller, to bad. wait. pay more. be the first one at the show and pay the money. or don't - you don't need a knife that cost more than 5$. I'm not going to complain about something I can fix by doing a little extra footwork. The aftermarkets not here to make your life easy.

ugh. I hated that roomate  he was so f'ing crazy and bipolar.

Anyway.... I have this new girlfriend that likes the fact that i collect knives. She even is giving me "hands on experience" that after market modification isn't necessarily a bad thing

Dan vouched for me with a seller who wasn't sure about selling his knife to a Canuck. (which was understandable) He went so far as to guaranteed to cover the loss should something go wrong. All because I bought a knife from him in the past. Don't know about you, but there are people out there who aren't willing to do that even for their own family... That's all I gotta say.
