Sorry Trade, not even your kin is enough to get me to watch that dredge. I have a distinct distaste for "reality tv".

So, this is funny (to me) my family has all kinds of awesomeness in it, my dad is a linguist, my mom is a nurse specializing in urgent and emergent care, my sister is like my dad and has an aptitude towards language, however NONE of them are any good at cooking. This evening my mom came and got me from my room and says "We have a bunch of food downstairs that needs to get cooked... Can you do that... Please?!" So I went down and threw some food together. Marinated some chicken breast in Italian dressing, chopped up some potatoes, onions, roasted red peppers, minced garlic and zucchini. Tossed the vegetables in some dressing too, threw it all into a pan threw the chicken on top and now it's roasting in the oven. My mom is doting all around the kitchen telling me how amazing it smells and how she can't wait to taste it etc. It's such a simple dish!
To non-cooking types or those who struggle, it's magic. Being a decent cook takes a bit of imagination, and there are people that just don't have it - my wife asked me once why the recipe said "season to taste" - what seasonings should she use? When I told her to taste it and see, she didn't know how. For her, the recipe has to be specific. At least she can follow them. Even knows a couple by heart!

Made this for one of my buddies from high school, he's a die hard niner fan and this recurve just happened to have Montana's#16 and I added some red and gold handles made from beyond wood products materials

That's pretty cool man. Looks great!
The only thing that would make it better would be green and blue scales with #3 on the side. :D

That is how my sister is. She can follow a recipe to the letter. She is a good baker because of that. Me personally, I CAN'T follow a recipe to save my life! However put me into a kitchen, I can at least make a dish or a meal if there is enough.

Just a heads up to anyone who ever buys a pair of Columbia Silver Ridge pants: buy a size up from what you normally wear. These things are fitted oddly tight in the thigh region. I wear a 34wx32l and these were fine in the waist (which also has elastic on both sides, very comfy) but unusually restrictive in the thigh/upper leg region. I'm sending them back to Amazon for the 36w

Cool! Do you notice that the micarta seems "sharp" on the handle? Mine also has a significant amount of blade play; I haven't disassembled it to investigate but I am curious how they hid the blade stop. I really like the steep edge geometry, and the overall aesthetics of the knife. It looks and feels (other than the blade play) like a more expensive knife. Then again, I got mine used, and it wasn't that expensive.

Mine has NO blade play, either up and down, or side to side, it locks up rock solid. And when its closed the blade is pretty much EXACTLY centered. I have read some people had issues with blade play and others had an issue with the blade not being centered. SO as soon as mine came in i checked all these things and had none of these issues thankfully.

The one grip i have is a little one for me... But i have read others had a problem with it too, some saying they felt the flipper was worthless... Its not so bad for me. But the flipper is kind of small, it doesnt protrude very much so it takes a little more effort to flip it open then some other flippers. But my hands are not huge, and my finger can get a decent purchase on it and flip it open just fine. But if i sit flipping it open and close for a few minutes it would be a little rough on the finger.

I just asked this Q over in the Kabar forum, but i figured I might get an answer quicker here (hopefully a "real" answer :D )

In a pic from the Kabar FB page::
2014 kabar shot show pic.jpg

all the ZK fixed blades have American flags engraved on them. I remember them as being "International", i.e., Taiwan, and made of SK5 mystery steel.

The Kabar website shows them to all be made in the USA now, and of 1095.

Does anyone know when this happened? This year for SHOT? or earlier? I don't remember seeing any announcement about it.

I was going to look something up on the internet and I totally forget what it was. oh well.

The older versions were made in Taiwan. I had a war sword made in Taiwan. The newer ones have a USA flag on the blade and are made in the USA. But the USA ones have been out for a little while now. Maybe since last shot show, im not sure exactly.

Well, since I know they are 1095, I may just have to check them out. :D I was a little skittish on whatever the hell SK5 was.

Revolution had a good episode on tonight.

I want "under the dome" to come back already. I read Stephen King will be doing the first episode of the new season!!

Anyone remember the show "boy meets world from the 90s? I also read of a new show called girl meets world, and cory and topanga are married with kids.

Off to the quote thread with you! Don't worry, it probably wasn't anything important like weird porn or how to build a suitcase nuke.

It's a good basic carbon steel. Nothing special, but nothing to be skittish about.

The latest Knife Journal podcast is part two of Kyle's interview with Ethan. Very good and lots of discussion of military blades.

I'm really not that picky and have a 12 pack of Coke and Throwback Pepsi.
When ordering out I'll order the house cola, whatever they have on hand. The only thing I lean toward is cola with real sugar vs corn syrup. I'll drink it now and then but real sugar rules over corn syrup. It's a half hearted Atkins thing.

Jack Daniels is much better when mixed with Mexican Coke compared to normal Coke.

Is the show as good as the book? I'm a big fan of Stephen King, still wondering if The Dark Tower series will ever make it to the silver screen.

Work: A lot of days it seems like acting in a movie. You play your part as well as you can, even though the other actors are ruining the scene or worse the whole movie.

Ain't that the troof!!

Anybody know a good way to stretch a boot, without a boot stretcher? I have a shirt stuffed in it, about as tight as I can get it.

Pick whichever bipedal motion suits you best.:p

Laying in the sleeper of the truck I drive wide awake. I was sleeping really well and then woke out of nowhere. Can't he back to sleep now because the wind is blowing like crazy and rocking the truck. Should be fun heading back in a while on slippery roads with 40 mph winds and gusts to 60.
