Jell-o Clips

So...what’s the most expensive knife you own that you’ve had this happen to? Or are you saying you never make poor choices when choosing a knife and everyone who’s had this happen to “said knife” made a poor choice in their mid tech due to the clip being able to snag/bend during day to day regiments.
What is a ‘day to day regiment’?

Once again, this has been addressed in my earlier posts.

Apparently getting in/out of cars (is a day to day regimen for me) seems to be the destroyer of everyone’s clips? Especially the seat belt? Not sure how it happens but hey..I’ll leave it at that.

As a left-hander, when I carry a knife in my left-hand pocket the clip is often touching the lap part of the seat belt, and when I detach the belt and it retracts it has the ability to get caught underneath the clip if I'm getting out of the car at the same time as the belt's retraction. This either pulls the knife out of the pocket by the clip (I don't make detailed notes about frequency but I it's happened to me at least 10 times) or would feasibly bend the clip if it's more firmly attached to the pocket or the seatbelt pulled on the clip at a perpendicular vector. If a passenger had a knife in their right-hand pocket it would be the same premise.

Your calling pocket clip snags user error was flat out wrong. The entire premise of this thread is silly. Or at least the way you chose to go about it.
I’m forgetting certain people watch what I say like momma birds and take don’t everything I say with a grain of salt. For that I apoligze. His quote just made me feel like he was saying that it was the users fault his Shiro clip was bent, as from my perspective..the clip on the Hati is beautifully designed and milled. “I’m not going to let a designers flaw slide” I’m simply stating that at the end of the day a pocket clip is a pocket clip, and apparently this happens to A LOT of people.

Thanks for elaborating where others wouldn’t! I appreciate the effort in hopefully making sense of the dreaded seat belt! :D

I understand the ease of carrying a folder with a clip, but I use a Velcro closed ballistic nylon belt sheath that only costs a couple of bucks. The trusty Gayle Bradley likes it and I have never accidentally dropped her. Right hand or left hand is not an issue, nor is blade up or down.

I love my GB2 man, I’m actually thinking about getting a wire clip made for it. I’m not a fan of very many Spyderco clips now that I think about it. Sure they are functional just very boring in my eyes.

Or just shove it on yer pocket and have done with it.

Buy a Fallkniven folder with no clip. Dilemma solved. ;) If an EDC knife gets scuffed up by pocket change, keys, etc, then so much the better.

For those who have never worked in confined spaces then of course they won’t get how this can happen so easily. But again, just shove it in yer pocket.

Interesting opinion my man, I guess to me..the issue seems to be more of a “user error” type of thing? I’ve owned multiple knives/clip designs and I’d like to think my career keeps me very active and mobile but in the 1.5 years that I’ve started to religiously carry a knife I’ve yet to have my pocket clip “snag” and bend completely in half like some of these guys are talking about.

I never said it was the users fault....you did.

I said, repeatedly, it was the fault of the design.

Again, please feel free to read my posts.

I don’t think spacial awareness has anything to do with it. People in general bump into, slide past and scrape by things.

How many times do you sit in a chair, lean against the armrest and then stand up?

The things we carry and use; end up looking carried and used unless you tip-toe around your world.

I look at pocket clips like magazine springs. They wear, catch a lot of movement and are replaced as needed.

For example, here is the clip of my Sebenza. I don’t crawl anywhere nor drunkenly list everywhere I go. Life just tends to happen.

Yeah, I can agree to this. Funny about a hour ago I took photos of my sebenza pocket clip as it shows the most wear and tear, but I still just hope..it never completely bends as I can’t imagine the force it would need to do such a thing.

I’ve bent pocket clips on a Manix and a Military pretty good before. It’s aggravating but you take them off and bend them back. No big deal.

At least you’re mechanically inclined, I’ve seen some who have no idea what to do and ask others for help/advice on what their next step should be
