So this Halfrich guy makes some pretty good knives, huh? I might have one or two around here somewhere. :D

Hey Ed ,it's good to see you posting here

If the postal website is true to their word, I should have something to report on this evening...(just hope that I get it early enough to take pix...;))

Well, I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but here's a tease for you...you'll just have to wait until later for more...;)

That's a great looking blade

I like the very deep, drawn swedge. As good as the sketch looks, it will be really exciting to see what Mr. Halfrich has done in steel:D

Just keep in mind that the drawing was just a preliminary sketch to give an idea what Jerry had been thinking...(the rest shall be revealed later on...)

Elliott, was this from a special blade that you were wanting ? Or just a new design Jerry had in the works that you fella's talked about ?
Is it a sabre grind on the blade ?
Sorry for the barrage,it looks like it'll be fantastic! (as usual)

Puts me in mind of an old Superman episode I remember from my youth...

(Not to mention the Larry David vignette following it...)

;)

Back before Jerry was making any slip joints (about 2005 I think) he showed up at my shop with Joe Kious and inquired about having some sheaths made for his "user" fixed blade models and a couple of different lock back hunting oriented knives. That was the beginning a really long and continuing friendship and business relationship between Jerry and me.

Then Jerry got a little boost from Ruple and Bose and the rest as they say is history because the Halfrich Slip Joint was born. It has since grown to many models and configurations. I got one of the very early renditions of the smaller single blade Tapper in CPM154 and POLISHED Sheep Horn. I stress polished because I really do not like sheep horn but when its polished by a Master it's just plain pretty. Before I get to far away from handles, if you have not yet seen Jerry's jigged Micarta, you are in for a treat. Particularly his "mini" jig pattern he developed just recently.

Now here's some photos of that "vintage" Halfrich small trapper.

Hi Paul, good to see you in this thread. (And hope to see you again in Atlanta come 2011.)

I've got some of your great leather on a couple of Jerry's straight knives.:thumbup:

Paul, I happen to very much like external, rough ram's horn, but you are right-- that polished handle of Jerry's is completely different and uniquely beautiful.

Here's a new ultralight Woodsman-carbon fiber, 4 3/8" closed, 12c27 steel that's razor sharp (like all of Jerry's knives)!!!
