Jim Adams Customs Knifemaker

Sir, Did you see the knife that was sent to the OP? Did you see the scratches? Why are you commenting on something that you have no personal knowledge of?
I can do better than what? There were no scratches on the blade PERIOD.

I'm not sure you even read the quote you put up.

Excuse me, but the person YOU quoted stated that there were scratches on his knife. Sorry, try again.

Edit: I'm out of it. I won't ever buy one of these "custom" knives so I have no need to worry. I can get shoddy workmanship for far less than 300 dollars.

Even the guy you quoted stated that there were scratches in the blade. No one was bashing you personally, they were giving you criticism that would hopefully help you improve your product. The sarcasm and defensiveness lend nothing to your character.

In all honesty I believe most people would be apalled if they payed 300 or more dollars for a knife that has scratches all over the blade. You can obviously do better, it's not like you don't have the skill.

The OP never said anything about scratches on the blade or knife itself. Yes there may been scratches on the handle, I sanded it to 320 grit. That may have been the scratches that "C" was talking about. They were small enough that he did mind them on a $300.00 Knife. In you own words you would been appalled if they were on $300.00 knife, Yet he was okay with it. Plus He bought my knife and you didn't.

Re: Folder I Purchased from You

Hi Jim,
I just recieved My knife, and I have to say that I really like it. There are a few scratches in the handle, but that just gives Me something to do. I really like the size, and I love the damascus blade. I think that this blade will be My companion for sometime to come. Are there bearings on the pivot of this blade? It looks like red washers. Nice job on the sharpening, the bevel looks to lend itself to a strop.
Respectfully,
C

Jim just walk away man... this is forum drama, it'll blow over in a week when they find someone else to gang up on. Just take it easy, you've done the right thing and refunded the OP so your conscience should be at ease. They'll pick at the thread until they get bored, so don't give them any more ammo. Illegitimi non carborundum alright?

I see room for improvement but I also am very pleased to see you stand behind you work and refunded his money. Good on on.

i like to buy tennesseean whenever i can.....while the fit and finish leaves something to be desired, the fact he has backed up all promises is even more telling of his good character....imho

I only mentioned that I was going to have my Adams knife overhauled local due to the fact that I am near a knifemaker in my area. I hope it works out for all involved and KUDOS to the refund.

For the record,Jim. I never attacked your character or your business practices.
You issued my refund before the 7 day refund policy,in which I thank you for that.

All I said was your knives lacked refinement. The reason I said I was amazed that you let it leave your shop in that condition, was because every other maker I see on the forums are usually meticulous about their finished product.

It was never anything personal.I was just trying to give you some constructive criticism.
If it came off as an insult,I apologize for that.

I was very excited waiting for your knife to come to me in the mail. Then when I opened the package,I felt let down big time.I thought it had to be a mistake, but now I see here that this is just the way you finish your knives.
If that works for you & your customers, then good for you.

Take care

It took balls to post that Bill , but you have probably done everyone a service by doing so . Time will tell what has been learned .

I sent the knife back to Jim Adams in January, he received it on the 31st. Thats when he told me there is a 7 day waiting period before he can refund my money.. Well today is February the 15th and I still have NOT received my refund:grumpy: Now I have $306.25 invested in a knife I never really owned but received in the Mail to open and only find that it did Not work properly..
I turned this over to Paypal Fraud on February the 10th only to find out that it's going to take until March 15 before they come to a determination. I also found out that Jim Adam's Custom Knife Maker is charging me $8.00 additional Dollars to refund the money he owes me (even though its not in his account). So now this knife keeps getting more expensive as this goes on, now I'll have to add another $8.00 to the price of this knife. $306.25 + $8.00= $314.25 and counting....

Be a real Business MAN JiM!!! Payback the money you owe me for the knife you couldn't make.. With Practice one day you may be a real knife maker, with enough practice and years, it could happen??.......
Remember, what goes around comes around & every DOG has his DAY.

Eric, contact Paypal in morning or mark the claim resolved. I will make sure you have the funds tomorrow, if they don't already transfer them.

2/10/2011 10:34 PST - Buyer: Jim, I want my money back, just as you stated you would do on 1-31-10. I noticed you changed your name right after that!! Here is a copy of your post; Last Post: Name Change Blacktoe Knives --> Jim Adams Customs 01-31-2011 10:36 PM..

Lets see, 1-31-11 you received the knife, then told me I had to wait 7 days for a FULL refund. You waited until I filed a claim to say you were going to return the funds.. The account had insufficient funds for the refund thank you..:barf:

Gentlemen,
This argument is getting nowhere.
To me, it looks like refund is being held while the transaction is being reviewed by paypal.
The seller should make sure that funds are available and the customer should contact paypal or wait until the review is finished.

Jim,
You are not doing yourself any favors by threatening to sue a customer.
Taking customers to court over things like this is bad for business.
Deleting your posts does not do you any favors either.
