Jim Dunlap knives

A stag Lanny that I purchased from Jim in April at the Tulsa show. This one is 3 3/4"

Beautiful knife, Charles. That one really stops traffic.
If you don't mind my nosiness, what blade steel?

Really nice, Paul! I do like the vine file work!

I really like this Dunlap stockman. Jim is an underrated maker, in my opinion.

- have a few of Jim's folders, they're all utterly wonderful, I rate him a great deal.

I had Thys Meades stay with me recently (who I think is fast becoming South Africa's answer to Oeser/Pena) and of all the slippies in my collection he singled out two he liked the most, one being Jim's old Lanny Clip which has a walk n talk to die for.

Can you say Jim is underrated - I don't know the answer to that, certainly not from here in lil ol' England. But I guess if you start wanting to compare him with the likes of Pena, Dowell, Oeser and others, all I'd suggest is different guys have different tastes.

Jim's folders, that I have handled, have a very slight touch of old school to me, and I love that. Pick up an Oeser - quite different!
