Jim Dunlap knives

dbla...the covers look like carbon fiber, which would be lighter than micarta and stronger!
I think that these Dunlop "backpockets" are linerless also? Could we get a picture of the knife open and from the "top"?...that is a nice spine shot.
If it is linerless, I wonder how tough it is with such thin covers. I have a Benchmade that is linerless, but the covers are a lot thicker.

I've owned and used carbon fiber covered linerless knives built by Jerry Halfrich for years, the scales might flex slightly if put under a lot of stress but are as solid as any knife as long as the pivot and pins are precisely fitted.

Carbon Fiber is pretty cool stuff....

thanks on the info JBinSC and dbla definitely one to consider. I am luck enough to be in line for this year and hope Jim can find the covers I requested.

Jim managed to get my Lanny's Clip delivered on the 24th...great timing. Jim did not have any vintage Westinghouse initially so had to source some at a show he did in November. He suggested the dark red inners that would go with the corsett or barbie shield, which I have always lusted over. This is my first custom and Jim did a bang up job in every way.

Hey Chucko, what's the size of the Lanny Clip by Dunlap? Thanks.

Sorry I missed this question, 3 7/8" closed

My latest Gent's pattern. I ask Jim to use ivory and add some file work. I think it makes for a classy knife.

That is a very classy knife. Impressive file work & super clean.

Well, I just received my gents knife from Jim Dunlap. I couldn't be happier with it. 3-1/8" closed with a CPM154 Wharncliffe. I sent a piece of ivory to Jim last year that I had bought in the 90's. I'd used the rest of it on some projects, and found the perfect way to get some use from the rest. The knife is beautiful in all respects, I couldn't be happier with it. Hope I can attach some pics. They show it as white, but it has a yellow to it in real life.

Nice Gent's! Jim builds a great knife. I like the shield and end caps on yours. Thanks for sharing and contributing to this thread.

Chuko... Yeah, the shield and caps really set the ivory off. I've seen some of yours, the tortoise shell comes to mind, with the caps on, and had to have it. Beautiful file work on yours. Ivory, get it while you can!

If you don't mind me asking, how much does something like this run?

I doubt you will get an answer. No one seems to want to share info about pricing for Jim Dunlap knives or how they can be purchased.

It might be he didn't get an answer because it's an inappropriate question for this forum. Read the guidelines, please.

Sorry for the derail Charles.

Send me an email at petewk1@gmail.com, I'll give you his info.

Wow, it seems like Jim has been pumping out some phenomenal knives lately. I love my trapper by him. I can't remember if I posted it here so here it is. (I got it in August). It's his back pocket trapper model in desert ironwood burl.
