JohnDF's Return to Work GAW

And Star Wars

There's a lot of great sci-fi, but the original star wars trilogy is still the best to me and the music has a big part in that. Overall it was one of those things that came together almost perfectly, even though in ep VI the ewoks were on screen too much.

Speaking of battlestar galactica, a few months ago some of my friends wanted to rewatch it and wanted me to join them so I watched a few episodes and really liked it. A few episodes in we got put on hiatus but we're starting back up tonight. They have raved about that show to me for years so I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.

John, I have thoroughly enjoyed your giveaway. Thank you.

This next post is just for fun but I realized I had forgotten to post it a little while back. This book is from a Sci-Fi series that I immensely enjoy, written by David Weber. It is unique in that it is centered around a female protagonist named Honor Harrington. Now that may not seem so special to you all but Honor happens to be the name of my daughter. Though I did not name her after the heroine in this book series (I discovered these books after she was born), the fact that they share a name has gone a long way in endearing the series to me.

The girl on the right with the pensive look was on Hawaii Five O . Does that improve my chances? At least I identified something in a Sci-Fi picture.
And the girl in the middle is from the Netflix series "Longmire"... Very excellent show by the way. Like Matt Dillon in recent times

...
I'm going to go with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (one I've only briefly entered into, but have heard to be the best of all the series; I've always been a Next Generation guy, myself).
...
Nope. And you are correct that Next Gen was better than Deep Space 9. But not my favorite either :)
I used to respect you two gentlemen so much ...
DS9 > TNG > TOS > Voyager :D:D

Honor Harrington is really great. I also love that the series concept is a reimagining of Horatio Hornblower, because I loved Horatio Hornblower. But Honor Harrington integrates the inspiration for Hornblower (Admiral Lord Nelson) more explicitly (even down to the eye and arm!), and uses names and polities from the French Revolutionary period. But all that history and classic literature references get turned into super sci-fi military adventures. Great stuff.

Okay, for my second post I decided to get a little cheesy ;)

There have been some very imaginative entries, and I feel like my chances of making the finalists are pretty slim, so I just decided to go for quantity, and cheese. I grabbed some of my favorites from my shelves, and my NCC-1701 cheeseboard. Books, Star Trek, and Cheese. What else do you need? Oh, howsabout a nice traditional knife :)

Hahaha...TNG was my intro to the Trek Universe, so I'll always have an appreciation for it. But I agree with you, Deep Space Nine is the best.

I've got one thing to say to Y'all... Captain Kirk!
You just don't get more iconic than Kirk and Spock.

I agree. I grew up watching Kirk and Spock. I watched Next Generation when it came on, because it was nice to see new Star Trek episodes. Everything after that...to be honest, they lost me with the Ferengi. Just, no.

It was the Kardashians for me. Cardassians? Hahaha...

This produced a hearty chuckle from me. I was just thinking this morning that the Kardashians were taking up way too much real estate in my News Feed.
