June 2008 San Jose "Chop Fest"

Thanks again Ban, I had a lot of fun and it was definitely worth the drive.

Thanks for all the awesome photos! We were very very lucky to have you and Lunde there to capture the highlights.!

BTW, that was some crazy flex on that AK when I whacked that 2X4 at the wrong angle. I think one of those cheapy swords would have easily broke in half with the amount of force and leverage generated in those long blades.

Dang it, I just got a wood chip in my eye!

Man, that looked like a blast! Would have loved to have been there with all the NorCal HOGs.

Thanks for the awesome pics!
Can't wait to see the vids.

WOW... looks like loads of fun was had!!!

Lots of great pics Ken... THANKS!!!

It is kind of like a movie if you scroll fast. :D

Mike Stewart can call it whatever he chooses. The first thing I thought when I saw it was "Smatchet".

It does have that smatchet shape. I was wrong about the model though, as was pointed out.:o

If it was smatchet sized, I would have one already :D

Looks like FUN was had by all....

Great Pics:thumbup::thumbup:

wow... that looks like sooooo much fun.... i wish i could have made it, darn 30th. birthday...:o
check out all of those knives....:D

Since I had to bug out at 4:30PM or so, I am curious as to whether the watermelons were eaten after being split, or chopped to bits...

Oh, and I loved Ted's photos. I was focusing on the impacts on the wood, but he managed to capture the expressions. Very nice. And, the beauty shot he took of Hogwash's seriously "Banned" blade was awesome.

The watermelons were in fact eaten. This was a west coast gathering not one of those metro sexual east coast things. No tea was consumed from bone china with extended pinky fingers. We eat, we chopped. Hell a few boards fell apart from shear terror.

My wife after hours of exposure to all that testosterone is concerned she my begin to grow a mustache.

Alright Im uploading the rest of the pics and all the videos right now. Ill make a new thread. Wait til you see these vids.

Thanks again Ted and Ken, the pictures are great. The chopping stand was great, much better than chopping on the floor and safer too, thanks Ban and norcalblacktail.

It would be hilarious if some people used their chopper faces for avatars, or for Tiny, his watching chopping face.

I think the get together was a great success. I'm sad that I had to leave early but I did get to avoid the cleanup!

I hope that next time we can use the morning and have a Bar-b-que, that way we won't frighten the locals in down town San Jose and we will have more time to chop.

Wow.....Freakin amazing stuff.... I am wantin to go chop some stuff after seein these pics!!! Looks like an awesome time indeed. Man, thats alot of INFI!!!!

Great pix, lunde!!! ...Which, of course, is the same as saying, "What ELSE is new?" LOL ;) :D:D :thumbup:

Thanxx for taking and posting these!! :)

Great pics! I love to see the blades working! I especially love in-hand pics - they show the real size of all blades.:thumbup::thumbup:

Gentlemen, you have re-discovered something Japanese swordsmiths and swordsmen discovered centuries ago. Cool, ain't it? :D

Monsieur Ban -- I 'demand' a detailed review of the performance of the awesome FABM! I will accept no excuses!!:thumbup:;)

Hmmm. I think "Chopper Face" (courtesy of HogWash) may have to enter the Busse lexicon. I'm betting a whole lotta grunting and oinking went on!
