Just for fun~ What would be your choice of SHTF Production knife ?

Tops Prather War Bowie for a big blade, or more realistically, a custom 5" Bowie I recently ordered.

If I could only have one it would probably be something smallish like a SOG Seal Pup, ESEE 3/4, Benchmade Rant, etc.

If I could have more, I'd go with a leatherman, a cold steel recon 1, an Al Mar Fang II and a cold steel trailmaster or Busse CGFBM in addition to the small/medium fixed blade.

My trusty BK7 - which is attached to my BOB as I type. IMHO, it is the right balance between rugged, robust chopper/combat/and general utility knife. Is it the best knife for any given task? Probably not - but it can get most done tolerably well. In a worst case scenario you may run out of ammo, lose your firearm etc...one never knows. YMMV

Yeah I keep looking at those myself, nice all round blade !

Possibly an ESEE5 (RC5 with the Eagle Sheath.. I do get to use what's in the sheath, right? :p ) or an ESEE Junglas.

I love the Junglas and have never read anything but good reports from those who have them, just the cost holding me back !

Becker BK7, ESEE 5 or KaBar 7 in. Bowie. BK7 is at hand.

Upon further thought, add: Becker BK1 Brute and Busse Combat, Marco Bolo Proto.

Pic of a Marco. Mine has OD green scales

It's an excellent blade. The sheath on it is great, too. One of my favorite overall knives.

If I had to pick from what I actually have at the moment, it would be my Condor Hudson Bay. It is big and stout enough for all sorts of work, and is my only big knife at the moment. It is currently with my get home stuff in the car trunk.

Otherwise, I'd also go with a BK7, which I hope to get at some point. I used to have a BK10 a few years ago, which was awesome.

I'd say the Junglas.
It does most things pretty well.
There are better choppers out there, but they generally don't perform other knife tasks as well as the Junglas.
Good at many things, master of none...just like me.:)

BK2

will do any chore, pretty close to unbreakable. And I would imagine that 1/4'' steel would inflict massive wound channels.

Ya, be a good one for chopping up bears eh ? Hell, maybe two at a time with all those massive wound channels.

I think a Bark River Golok would be at the top of my list if it HAD to be big.

If not - a Bark River Kephart - and I would make a lot of tools to do the killing and door smashing with...

Definitely my Becker/Ritter Perseverance. I love this knife, it has the perfect size and weight for heavy stuff and I really like the blade shape
