Just ordered a Ganzo g710

And just who would you be to determine expense regarding someone else?

Are you a short sighted narrow minded hypocrite? I personally would like to EDC an Emerson / ZT but I have a Utilitac.

That is your own choosing. This is America. If you can't move up your earning ability to afford said knives then that is on you. Using it as an excuse to justify theft is not what we are about here.

I doubt the clone of the 14715 is the reason Benchmade's entire HK line is being discontinued.

I think you missed the irony that one of the best, low cost options in the Benchmade lineup will persist in the form of a clone knife. In a year when the clone supporters are crowing about the Ganzo Axis clone being ok because Benchmade quit giving customers something they wanted, remember when there was a choice. It's inherent to the clone supporter mentality to move the moral target as the firing range changes.

There's a fundamental disconnect between clone supporters and clone critics because both groups are thinking on different levels; kind of a Mars / Venus thing. After 14 pages of back and forth I don't think a single Ganzo fan has joined the critics and vice versa. At some point we just need to acknowledge that the only winner in this argument is one who refuses to participate. I think we've provided significant feedback to the OP and with that we're done. I support the Ganzo fan's right to buy and use clones. They have every right to be wrong.

But that's the thin red line. I don't agree with the argument "If it's patented here, then it's wrong to use the design anywhere". I don't think the US is the world patent office.

They don't recognize what you consider protected designs as protected designs, same as we don't recognize many of their laws and rules. Should we have a universal set of rules and laws? It would certainly remove any grey area there is about what is legal and what isn't.

Yet again you conflate morality and legality. You support IP theft and counterfeiting. I would definitely say that your grasp of morality is shaky, at best, and non-existent at worst. If you want to buy cheap knock offs, you are free to do so, but I'll consistently call out the moral and ethical knots you must tie yourself into to justify doing so.

And that Utilitac is awesome too, damn happy with it thank you Joe Pardue!

Yup, the Utilitac is a great knife. Original design, overseas produced, good QC and backed by a reputable company. It's one that I recommend without hesitation.

Diamonds and gold what intrigues cold be told of diamonds and gold

CT: Eh, if i quit smoking ...

Sorry. I don't follow. Please explain.

I own one as well. Excellent knife. For the cost of these counterfeits you can get a great knife from a quality company that backs it up!

Even made thread about it:

I think this is an interesting topic and there is much more to explore. So what if nobody changed sides yet, this kinda thing can take time, oh you people and your instant gratification it's kind of a mental disorder isn't it?

As far as the right and the wrong of it,
Food for thought.

As far as the right and the wrong of it, the naysayers seem to all be in step calling the other "side" wrong yet not fleshing out the argument.

Now WHY is that? Is that because they want to shut down the debate because they are afraid they have a hypocritical bent that they dont want exposed?
Food for thought.

Or you could read through the thread and see that parties on both sides have explained their positions in depth instead of making ridiculous and unsupportable claims.

CT if I quit smoking I could have a Strider AR in my left pocket, an Umnum in my right and a couple Em / ZTs in my other pockets!

True, they did and my bad, that's why I tried to take back what I said in my edit. Thanks for the correction.

Well then do it! I know it is difficult but the upside is only positive. Knives, money, health! I also know the downside. Lung cancer now kills more women than breast cancer in the US.....

I stopped buying Ganzos when I got mine.

now I only own one beater, crapped out Ganzo, but many more "inexpensive knives" from Sypderco, Ontario and KaBar .
Just a few bucks more, much more peace of mind and confidence in the product.

Ganzos are ok for a beaterand if youre out of money, but if you want a real thing buy the Benchmade. And yeah,Ganzos are better than most knives in their price range, even the ones that cost double.

Let's see, in my book, a couple is two, a few is three to five, and six is a half dozen.

Can I safely assume that in your eyes "a few bucks more" is not three to five dollars?

The wife and I quit when we decided we wanted to have kids. Marlboros were 4 bux a pack at the time, and we each smoked a pack a day.

I am so thankful that we don't smoke anymore. The cash in our pockets, the ability to run up and down hills during hunting season, no more stinky clothes....

It's hard to to. Insanely hard to do. But quitting smoking can leave you with enough money to buy a sweet knife EVERY MONTH.

Every month for the rest of your life, which will be longer BTW.

Oh, so now if someone does not agree 100% with your view on something, they might have a broken moral compass? Unbelievable.

If I take a position on an issue on moral/ethical grounds, and someone disagrees with me, it stands to reason that I would consider their moral compass to be broken with regard to that issue. So, yeah, believe it.

For reference I just did a quick search and found a Byrd Cara Cara 2 for $20.97 with free shipping. The Ganzos I found with a similar search ranged from about $15-21, so I'd say a few bucks more is an appropriate descriptor.
