That strikes me as incredibly high. After a dealer had several hundred sitting on the shelf, they would stop ordering new ones. Even the Sultan of Brunei's knife dealer would stop at 1000 sitting on the shelf that they couldn't sell. See if they have an "in stock" filter to help you out. I doubt BRK has 6k knives sitting around.
It’s knivesshipfree for anyone who wants to verify. I checked several times. I keep getting all in stock and ready to ship selecting random knives on every 10th page or so, 295 pages with 20 knives on each page. Thats 5,900 available knives. Just a very high number to deal with, I’m not making any claims either way.

Seeing some odd posts on FB where people that have been buying and collecting these knives for years are defending BRK. I think they would rather write these posts than have the realization that they've been defrauded out of thousands of dollars and their collection is completely devalued as a result of that fraud. They are choosing to ignore how intentional this was. It wasn't an accident.

It's a little surprising, but I guess it's a bit of human nature for some people.

He seems like a really nice guy. I hope he's not stuck holding that bag. Maybe he's got some kind of drop shipping arrangement with BRK, where KSF has access to BRK's entire stock but KSF is not paying until someone buys from him.

Yeah its odd, but go to DLT for example....134 pages, ~20 different knives per page, many of the thumbnail images open up a new window with 3 or 4 pages of variations or copies of the same variant of that particular knife. Is all that on the shelf or drop shipped from BRK when ordered?

All BRK’s I’ve ordered from DLT shipped from DLT.

I think it comes down to which knives are as advertised vs which are not. Either way the name has taken a huge reputational hit. Once the dust settles on this you can bet a lot of people will be having their blades tested and XRF certificates signed to try to keep at least some value. Who knows, if you got one of the good ones it might end up being worth even more at some point in the future..

I know lots have various strong feelings.
But, I have a few. I will Always feel bad for people who may lose their jobs, that Sucks.

BR was often a gateway of sorts into the knife world.... I had a couple Beckers and ESEE, but BR was my first edc fixed knife I carried. Legally.
It was perfect for me then for what I wanted.

I have that model Blackjack with the leather Commando handle. I think it was my first large fixed blade purchase other than the SOG Desert Dagger that I bought while in the Army.

All BRK’s I’ve ordered from DLT shipped from DLT.
Seems like a pretty bad idea to have at least one of every model and variation in stock. Thats a huge investment, and a big gamble that they will be able to sell all of them in a timely fashion. A half million dollars of inventory collecting dust on the shelf isn't good for anyone but the guy who sold that inventory to the dealer.

First stage of grief is denial.
yep.

gonna be hard for many to realize what they have vs. what they thought they had. some never will. theyll think i got the few good ones. everyone else got duped. problem is none are good ones. even if someone got an a2 one....was it even heat treated good enough....at this stage id doubt it. seems cutting corners and lies was the business model.

no one wants to admit to themselves they were stupid and got duped, cant blame them for that. worse is all the warnings they read and ignored of the brand and it's shady owner for decades, so its a tough pill to swallow.....

You have a bottle of water on hand, to help them get it down?

Some of us were completely ignorant of all of the complaints and I chalk mine up to not doing the proper research. Definitely a lesson learned on my part. It doesn't really matter what the steel is if the heat treat is no good.

I saw a few comments on a YouTube video of people hoping to snag a few more knives before they are all sold and gone. Pretty much the opposite of what is being said here. They think the blade switching is just an unfounded rumor. Until there is hard evidence, I'd be willing to bet a lot of people will continue to believe that.

I bought mine more as collection pieces, but I think I'm going to test them out and see how they fare. I don't see a reason in testing them to find out what the steel actually is. Almost all of mine are supposedly A2. I'm not into collecting wall hangers, so if they break, I guess I'll have to swallow that pill.

The blackjack hawk i got (made by brk) is allegedly in a2 and it's held up fine. So hopefully yours will too. It's the more expensive steels I think they cheaper out on, but it does stand to reason they may have cut corners in heat treat at some point, on any knife, or steel. Really a crap shoot. All jokes aside, it sucks big time for a bunch of people who truly didn't know, and I feel for them. It's the ones who were warned and then shrugged it off that I have little sympathy for.

I haven’t been on the forum for months and feel vindicated after all this time so thanks for linking my thread lol.

A bunch of people here but mostly on Reddit gave me shit about CPM-3V not being truly stainless. Since then, I have not seen a single other 3V knife, be it CPK or LT Wright oxidize like that, let alone that quick.

The fanboys of SK! did the same thing, refused to see the situation for what it truly was.

Boy am I glad that my BRK&Ts are all basic, old models in either A2 or 12C17. I think my newest one is a Bravo 1 that's probably from 2008 from when I owned an outdoors kit store and sold a couple of Bark River models.

I got some prototypes and first production run knives from trades, a couple from a bloke who did some reviews for them.

Again, you would actually need to prove they knew.....having a sale means nothing really, its evidence of nothing except somebody was looking to move inventory.
Given Stewards history of public denial of any wrong doing, I doubt he would tell the dealers anything about whatever fraud he was perpetrating on his customers.
Bottom line is there's no evidence of dealer collusion, and until there is Stewart is the only one responsible for the choices that were made.
I think it would be interesting to hear how passionately a dealer is willing to remark that they cannot tell a $300 American knife from a $30 Chinese knife. For that reason alone it is still worth pursuing.
