KA-BAR/Becker Warranty?

Darn it won't let me upload large files? I'm going to re-size them later today and post, I've been so busy for these past few weeks I'm an uncle! =) Well I spoken to the folks at Kabar and they said its odd for that to happen perhaps its a manufactures defect and for me to mail it in

Spec, Photobucket or Flickr is a better method of uploading, and its faster. Try that next time.

Yeah, I knew Kabar would ask for it, or actually, Toooj will snag it once it hits the front door. Analyze it and come up with a reason.

Thanks for coming back and posting up some proof. Its kind of exciting really, we don't see broken Becker's much at all.

I would like to state one thing, I have seen several broken Becker threads in the past couple weeks/month, that being said, I'm still gonna buy these things like there's no 2013, with the zombie take over and all.
 
I love the Ontario Sp10 it's a tough SOB! I'm thinking about scrapping the ugly sheath it came with and getting a custom kydex

Since I have been in this forum, I can remember 5 broken BKT's with 2 showing up this week.

BK9 being batonned through frozen evergreen trunk
BK9 that had a HUGE chip out of it
BK2 thrown "over a hundred times"
BK9 that fell to the floor
BK7 that fell pray to alien adamantium roots

:D

That's not that many. I know of a few more that Kabar has taken possession of through the replacement process.

Yes, they have been broken. Most of the time, there was some mitigating circumstances, but all within "reasonable" use, and all were replaced.

I have personally tested every knife in the BKT lineup to failure, except the BKT Shorts, which we will be doing at the Gathering so everyone can see it.

Hey Spec, when you are taking pics of the cross section, you will want to turn on macros (looks like a flower on most cameras), turn the flash off, make sure there is tons of ambient light, set the camera on a table, place the blade flat but on something raises, and use the timer.

Sounds like a pain in the ass, but we can't see much of the steel grain in your pic. Not complaining, just trying to help.

Now pack it up and send it off already. :D

It's okay, I'm trying my best but these are taken with my cellphone, my camera was left in my brothers house >:( while we were taking baby pics. I'm shipping her off to see what they'll do

Oh, no worries, just the fact that you came back and posted pics, was enough for us. We do get some guys in from time to time, that are one post wonders, "My knife sucks, it broke" and never heard from again.

Stick around brother, I like your style.

I understand, those are noobs! who purchase cheap quality knives (fury/united) misusing them for there original purpose and expect for them never to break lol!
 
I hear you want to put the smaller Beckers threw a test! May I be quality and control, here's a pic of my BK14 with my AZWELKE kydex, he makes some great kydex sheaths
 
Specwar, A little late, but recanting as I type:) My humble apologies. Thanks for posting and getting pics up. It is so strange, but weird things happen. I recall dropping a plate, made from some extremely hard material, on a Saltillo tile floor (hard tile). It bounced, appeared to float while vibrating violently for what seemed an eternity, and then exploded! I mean into a billion pieces! I'd swear I heard it humming while in the air, like a flying saucer. Vibrations and such do weird stuff. Again, my humble apologies and I will continue to recant into the evening:o

For the love of all that's friggin holy, I DID NOT hit the concrete! Geek and ThePointyEnd stabbed ground, DerekH and I tied that contest like a BOSS. You can't even tell me "we all look alike" because Geek looks like "The Rock" and I look more like "What things look like after the Rock crushes it."
 
It's alright jdk1 no harm done. Weird things do happen, I remember breaking the handle of a US Navy MK3 MOD 0 straight in the middle 9 years ago while trying to pry open a canister, I had a buddy of mine next to me look at me shaking his head in disbelief laughing. Anyone that knows me personally can tell you I'm kind of a brute with freakish Bam Bam like strength if you need something broke I'm your man lol!
