Nice knives Ken, the bone looks like either dark brown, or mahogany oil dye over golden oak oil

Yep, your recipe, tweaked a bit perhaps, but Mahogany oil dye over Golden Oak stain.

Thanks for all the kind comments on these knives guys, it is very much appreciated.

Real nice Jack, Ken! Thanks for all the inside info as well - it's nice to know what goes into these works of art you create. Very interesting. Of course it is the less tangible skills that really bring it home!!

Gents, a friendly reminder: no business talk in the maker display threads. Comments of appreciation or questions of a technical nature only, please.
Anything else should go to PM and be invisible in the thread.

Ove,

Thanks for posting a picture of your knife! I was going to pm you and let you know that the knife was featured(along with others) in Knife World, July 2012 addition, on page 18 in the "Artistry in Knives" section.

Thats a great looking knife! really love the scroll work.
I wish I could take credit for the engraving but that has to go to Nathan Dickinson:thumbup:. A very talented young engraver. Here is a better picture of the engraving.

Thanks for the WIP pics Ken, they raise the level appreciation for knife makers skills greatly I'm sure.
Your more than welcome. I enjoy taking pictures of work in progress on certain knives, gives me a chance to play with my camera!;)

Kool early knife, Clutch!!
I like seeing what makers have done in their early days.

Interesting for you Charlie, painful at times for me!:D. Just kidding of course, I think it is important to study, but not dwell, on past work.

Here is one just finished up, getting ready to make the trip to its new home.
A slender 3 5/8 serpentine jack. I like to put plenty of blade in this pattern. The modified pen/Wharncliffe blade is fairly robust for a knife this size. The bone on this one is done in a jig pattern that resembles Schrade peachseed. Also features CPM D2.

Beautiful Ken, I'd like to have it headed my way! Terrific bone, love the semi diagonal look.

Nicely done, Ken. Will make a very worthy companion for the new owner's pocket. You are really getting proficient with that jigging pattern and the color saturation looks great.

Thanks for the kind comments guys!

My customer , after seeing the pictures, told me it was going straight to his pocket:thumbup:

The slight diagonal jigging is often seen on the Schrade's. My jigging is more random however. If you study a lot of peachseed you will see that it does have a bit of rhythm and rhyme to the pattern.

I liked the color on this knife, it has some interesting hues and variation to the color.

Thanks again!
