Ken Onion joined forces with CRKT

Well lets see what he can do. :)

The reasons are none of my business and I really don't care why he made a change.

still waiting for the 411 on the acuto+. tip down only is a big turn off, but there's always STR.

boy, i'm glad i'm a lefty and have forever sworn off right-handed frame locks.

otherwise, i'd be all over this knife. looks like quite the package for $99

Acuto+ is described as an enhanced 440C . I am testing a sample and I like it . I am also offering this model in my own production/Mid-Tech version with Titanium frames and CPM154CM blade. It is 100% American made and very close to the custom version. It will be available very soon. I have partnered with Dan Delevan of Plaza Cutlery and will be coming out with more models in the future.
As for why CRKT, well it's because Rod and Doug are great people and they asked me to do some knives with them. Remember it was Doug Flagg who flew to Hawaii and recruited me for Kershaw back in the day. He took a chance with me all those years ago and has been a true friend. I am in no way locked into or exclusive to anyone.
I wish Kershaw nothing but success and hope to keep our relationship intact.

im so glad they didnt give the knife the usual crkt bead blast, i hate bead blasted blades, ban bead blast forever

Oh , CRKT did a great job on this knife and went the extra mile to ensure I was happy with this knife before they launched it .

Well, if BRK decides to pick up this model, I'll be buying one. It's pretty slick looking and the price is right.

BTW Ken, the only Kershaws I've ever purchased have been of your design. I generally stick to BM for folders. Keep up the good work.

Any knife that I've used (Blur, Packrat, Scallion and Shallot) made by Mr. Onion are well done, the most comfortable knives I own. Anything he does is great. Keep up the good work Ken.

Thanks for chiming in on the subject Ken. It's always nice to get accurate information from the creators themselves. I too have most of your Kershaw designs and look forward to seeing what you and Kershaw have in store for the future. And I just may have to grab your mid tech version. Best of luck to you, but I'm sure you dont even need it.

You sir have no idea what you are talking about. I did not sign the revised contract. I don't know where you are getting your information but it is false.

Ken,

Thank you for clearing up some of the questions that your latest venture with CRKT has created. Can't wait to handle a Ripple and see how it turned out.

They should memorialize the epic partnership by putting out a commemorative knife.

That knife should be a Blue G10 Tyrade.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbup::thumbup:

And I for one think change can be beneficial to everyone, no matter how it comes about. The Ken Onion and Kershaw collaborations are responsible for me getting into knives in the way that I have, and I can't wait to see what they both do in the near and distant future. One way or another they are sure to both get more of my money than I should be spending on anything. :)

Lets see...1, 2, 3... 7 Ken Onion Kershaws in my pile right now, and I use them regularly. Thanks Ken and Kershaw both.:thumbup:

This is a great news!
Is it possible to somehow monitor this? Will availability of you own production runs be announced here? Where should I look to see if it is available?

What else are coming?

Thanks, Vassili.

I think mid-tech production runs are awesome. Please keep us at bf.com posted on this one!

Ken Onion, IKBS, framelock and made in Taiwan for $99! That's a heck of a good bargain.

Glad to see it's made in Taiwan rather than in mainland China.

IME knives made in Taiwan are generally higher quality than those made in mainland China, no matter who the manufacturer is.

A classy response. Thank you.

Not so far ago it was only Ken knives what make any sense in Kershaw product line. I do not remember anything from Kershaw from let say 2003...

One of the first "good" knives I had was a DWO from the 80s...Kershaw has been making quality knives for a very long time. Maybe you didn't find them.
