Ken Onion joined forces with CRKT

I own or have owned Ener'G's, (big and small) PackRat, Avalanche, several shallots, a great Barrage, and others I can't think of at the moment. I really like Ken Onion's work and admire his designs and execution. My observation on the Ripple was simply how a knife presented to me eye, and was in no way an accusation of anything. Don't know how "Imp" derived any other nonsense from that.

Oh , CRKT did a great job on this knife and went the extra mile to ensure I was happy with this knife before they launched it .

I've a big fan of the CRKT/Custom collaborations. It is the only way I was able to come close to affording a Graham folding razel. I like seeing these great makers come together with a company that makes good knives.

I've owned CRKT knives for some time now and they have done well by me for years.

Nice work, Ken.

This is a great news!
Is it possible to somehow monitor this? Will availability of you own production runs be announced here? Where should I look to see if it is available?

What else are coming?

Thanks, Vassili.

Google plaza cutlery since that who he said he's working with.

One of the first "good" knives I had was a DWO from the 80s...Kershaw has been making quality knives for a very long time. Maybe you didn't find them.

Yea... DWO - http://cdn2.overstock.com/images/products/L11930270.jpg
...

Somehow I did not notice that quality knives... but I remember very well my excitement any time I got Ken's models. Black Boron Chive was like candy for me - I was so in love with it! It was really something. Then Avalanche - what a beauty! Then Boa - I made it Christmas present. And from that time I was always waiting for something special and excited from Ken.

Almost every new knife was something new, was a statement - like Bump, or Offset. Any was like - "must have in my collection".

I can not think about other maker who bring so many new things in Knife World. And it was Kershaw who channel all that to us... Now Kershaw channeling to us what? Chieldish Kershaw Mafia??? Well, good luck...

I will be watching for Ken Onion production knives, hope he'll find some time and effort for his regular fans, not only to celebrities.

Thanks, Vassili.

Before Ken Onion, the only Kershaw I knew was country music artist, Sammy Kershaw. Ken has left some designs that make checking into Kershaw every now and then, just to remember how great they were, if you don't already have them. Time to watch a knife company I never watched. CRK.

Ken, I know you're watching this. The Kershaw Cyclone was an awesome looking knife. I know Kershaw messed the quality control up on it. If you could bring something similar to CRK, save the speedsafe, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

idk-i mean, its seems cool i guess, but it seems kinda gimmicky to me. the ikbs seems very unnecessary

Has anybody have any experience with the actual KO model, his midtech/custom version of this knife? Not sure if it's midtech or custom and somebody please correct me if you know. I'd like to hear some comments about ergos.

Sorry to get off topic but I would like to weigh in.
Now what is Kershaw contributing? How about the 2009 American made knife of the year?
Kershaw is still aliving and kicking, just because KO left doesn't mean the talent left with him. Thy will continue to produce.
Ken Onion has created so many iconic models that you guys have disregarded the other models Kershaw is delivering to the table. Will anybody compete with the prestigious models KO offered? Probably not, but discrediting Kershaw because not every model is a living legend as you guys had become accustomed to from KO is childish.

Sometimes all a thread really needs is a troll to make it truly complete. :)

You "know" this, you "know" that. How do you know Ken is bringing something to Chris Reeve? :D

Pay attention. It's a big world out there, it can get confusing.

I had the honor of playing around with Dan's (of plaza cutlery) prototype KO Ripple, it's a very well done knife, little too light for my usual heavy weight SnG taste, but it could easily grow on me. It fires like a switchblade a light flick and it's solidly open. Nicely polished with CPM154 I believe. Very well done.

I've been buying Kershaw knives since 1974 when they opened up shop in the USA. That was 24 years before Ken Onion Joined with Kershaw in 1998. They've had lots of nice designs, and they were selling sharpened blades while most other manufacturers left their offerings dull. I never liked knives with re-curved blades like the Blur, so I didn't always like Ken's designs. Kershaw had a great knife which was was very close to the design of the Sebenza, with Titanium handles and all. Wish I could remember which knife that was, and see if I could find one again.

Again, never paid too much attention. It's CRKT. I thought Columbia River Knife. Not sure what the T is. I'll look it up. My bad. I don't own one. Will start watching CRKT closely. Don't know a single model up unto this point.

Tool. Columbia River Knife & Tool.

Thanks Josh. I would have guessed Tool but have already made a big enough fool of myself with CRK leaving off the T. It is a new company to me. I know many Buck Models, many Spyderco models, and many Kershaw models. I'd say I know about as many Kershaw models as any, despite only owning one, a leek. The models I know mostly have one thing in common. They are mostly Onions. Off the top of my head, I know the leek, the chive, the tyrade, the blackout, the shallot, the blur, the cyclone and mini cyclone, the vapor, and so forth. I haven't looked it up, but I think most of the one's I follow are Onion designed. Will be paying close attention to CRKT now. The Onion Kershaws will always be there and be a good choice. For new Onions, we'll just have to follow Ken around I guess. I am an amatuer regarding knife designers. But I know of few designers who leave such a mark with so many cool knifes. Maybe I'm wrong, but Onion has some very cool designs, and I can't think of any one man who has so many, except Sal Glesser, and maybe he has others designing most of his. Again, there are probably others.

You're probably thinking of the Starkey Ridge, which had a sister model with a hawksbill blade, the Talon. Steel liners, titanium scales, linerlocks, ATS-34 blades. And an unusual grooved tang that could be used to open it.
