Ken Onion Knives Stolen

Innocent until proven guilty is great and all but I am also of the opinon that it was a baggage handler, TSA, or someone within the aviation/travel industry.

I wonder what that lever looking "thing" is on the right side of all the knives. Think it's part of some sort of locking system? Don't see any reason to put it there just for looks and it wouldn't help the "holding comfort" any. Probably never know.

Regards

Thank you all very much for your support. I work with Ken as his VP of Marketing and was unfortunately there with him when we discovered the theft.

If anyone has anything to report, please contact me at khiga@KORandD.com so we can coordinate our inputs to the dozens of law enforcement agencies working on the investigation.

????? No offense meant but this isn't exactly a terrorist attack. It was $30,000 worth of art that can be duplicated in a few months. I agree it's a great loss but I hope the police don't forget about the murders, rapes, and beatings that continue while they are doing their investigation.

Still, good luck on getting some or all of them back.

Regards

HOLY CRAP! I'll keep an eye out. Thieves suck.......................... Those are some gorgeous knives.

So what are you saying? Law Enforcement should not investigate a $30,000 theft?

Be assured they are not ignoring "murders, rapes and beatings" - They can do more than one investigation at a time. Police are the original "multi-taskers":) .

Those are god-awfull ugly---but will definitely help put the scumbag away if I come across them.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I don't seek out a Spyderco thread to tell everyone how ugly I think the knives are. And I wouldn't kick a guy when he is down by calling his art "god-awful ugly".

Are you talking about the second picture? If so, its probably the frame-lock. Or the pocket clip

No offense meant?!!! Are you kidding me?!!!

If $30,000 was stolen from you would you choose to have the cops looking for the culprit or sitting around eating donuts and drinking coffee? That $30,000 puts food on his table and a roof over his head. Knifemaking is his livelihood. If you only knew how much time and effort went into making those knives and how disappointed the intended customers are you would not say such things. The amount that was stolen constitutes grand theft. It is not a crime to be taken lightly. And...if you knew anything about knives at all you'd see that those are carved Ti pocket clips.

I swear. Some people can't see past it only being a stupid knife. They do not see the art and skill required to make such a knife. Not all knives are cheap Chinese made crap. If you chose to buy them so be it. It leaves more customs for me.

 I take this crime personally as a knife lover. To be quite honest, reading this made my stomach wretch a bit, and that doesn't happen when I hear about even the most terrible tragedies in the news.

I think this really sucks. The knives do look kinda ugly. Onion won't give me the time of day and I still remember him laughing at me at a show. He'll get over it and so will everyone else.

That actually would be 'inlaid' carved Ti pocket clips. :D

Beautiful craftsmanship.

However, it would not matter what the knives were. We knife nuts are like family. You steal from one of us, you stole from all of us. We take it personally.

This is despicable no matter what his personality is like. Trolling?

While I do think this is horrible and sad, I have to ask a question. I'm not at all trying to be a jerk, but why would anyone put $35,000 + worth of anything in luggage and take it on an airplane? It should have been shipped FedEx with insurance. Why in the world would you put those knives in checked baggage?

I won't flame you for what you're saying, but I have a question for you. What are you doing at a knife forum to begin with? It boggles my mind. Like you wouldn't want the police to investigate you stolen car? :jerkit:

Possible last minute trip to a client or show? There are many reasons I would rather take them with me than send them.

Simply because you paid money to be a member gives you no right to insult anyone. If Ken offended you personally, take it up with him personally. Don't attempt to tarnish a man's character publicly after he's already lost so much in terms of time and effort.
