Photos Kepharts...They just Work

.... Been into knives for a LONG time and just recently found one with the perfect handle. Figured I'd try to add another that is actually pleasant to use. Settled on a Dozier Kephart in 3v.
I didn't know that Bob Dozier was doing a Kephart and using CPM-3V. He's Mr. D2. I do like their knives and own six I believe.

I hadn't seen one either. But I did a little Googlin and found he does have one, well, his rendition, called the K45. Done up in D2.

I wasn't a fan of the blade grind coming up that high on the one I saw. To me that's not Kephart. Just his rendition.
Maybe I'm more of a purest when it comes to that. I like the blade to be flatter.
Just my 2 cents mind you.

I looked on Dozier's forum and he/they made a camp knife similar to a long Kephart and one that is a cross between a regular kephart design and a wharncliffe blade.... don't know what this knife is as I may not have seen what is being called a Kephart. So, looking forward to a picture down the road when he gets it.

Here's the best I could find from a google search in the image filter. There are a lot of other color combos if you search "Dozier Kephart" on google. The 2nd image is confirmed a K-45 from the Dozier forum, via google.

I bet the Dozier Kephart cuts good. I like the sharp point. Hollow ground like most of their knives?

I wouldn't mind owning one but would prefer it done in something other than D-2. But I have little use for so many. It would just get added to the Dozier pile which has been resting at six knives for a couple years now. I tend to buy a Dozier when I go to Blade. His generally has been the first table I visit.

If I know myself, I suspect I will get the little Condor Kephart for giggles at around $50. I find myself carrying the little Bushlore at times when I don't want anything "big" on my belt but still want the strength of a fixed blade.

Just looked it up "Compact Kephart" versus Mini Kephart. It is on the Condor website fyi. I suspect it's a brand new offering and may not have hit the knife dealers yet.

Added: It is listed as 2.57" and 1095 versus 1075. So, it is a sub-3" Kephart. Hopefully it uses thinner blade stock than the regular Kephart.

This is what I've been saying all along. Well, kinda. I feel that whatever bushcrafter you carry, you ought to be comfortable with. It can't gouge you ever time you twist or turn or sit down. I think it should be like a 2nd skin. If it's not comfortable, you might not have it on you when out in, The Wild Blue Yonder.

I understand your slant on this issue. I felt that way about the Kabar Becker Kephart. I wanted something that approached the original and I understand you have a custom in the making that is closer to the original but with better steel. Is it necessary to have carbon steel? Probably not as 3V does pretty well and still a Kephart.

It is certainly a "rendition" of the Kephart. But when you look at the photo, you think "Kephart" versus the Fiddleback Kephart. The Fiddleback Forge is certainly a nice knife, but it isn't a Kephart as we discussed before. I would call the Dozier a Kephart.

I see what you mean.
I'm not 100% sure of what this knife will come in. I'm thinking and hoping on 01.

Here's a couple of Kepharts I finished last month.

Scott - one of those beautiful knives is on my bucket list! I will not consider I have everything I NEED until I have one of your knives. Preferably...one of these. The darker handled one is extra nice.
I have a question I've been wanting to ask you, do you remember reprofiling this knife for me? It would have been a long time ago.
I still have her!
