Kershaw Knives News Thread

Welcome to the forums aafanatic!

This thread is the next best thing to having a subforum dedicated wholly to Kershaw Knives. I miss not being able to contribute as much lately, but work has kept me very busy and kept me traveling. I love Kershaw knives too, and am very excited about getting my hands on all the new stuff they have coming out this month!

Thanks blade_scrounger,
You're the best! That which I desire already exists! Yippee. I got it on ebay, today. When it gets here, if I love it, I'll have to buy two. Thanks again Blade Scrounger. I appriciate information being shared but not rubbed in the face. Enjoy.

FLYBYU44,

Give customer service a call and they will send you a couple of torsion bars free of charge. Like Thomas has said before, our failure rate is less than 1%, but it does happen from time to time.

Wait, you can send out torsion bars??

Hmm... next time mine breaks I can just have a couple sent to me -- in case I mess one up -- and fix it myself (it only takes like a day to get stuff from you guys, but a week to send and get back the knife).

I've never taken apart an AO knife, but I should be able to do it (I hope it isn't as complex as the BB gun I took apart a couple years ago... I couldn't get it back together :).

Taking apart an A/O knife is about the same as taking apart any liner or frame lock knife. At least, that's true of Kershaw A/O knives. I can tell you that Bucks and SOGs with they A/O feature should never be taken apart. Especially the Bucks (the come with dual coil spring, and an extra part to make sure the blade doesn't open until you start it). Anyway, with the Leek which is what you said above that you have, it's wicked easy. There is just a seperate metal piece that covers the compartment for the torsion bar. Take the old one out and put the new one in.

I just wanted to mention that I picked up a Junkyard Dog II today. I really liked the fit and finish and gray G10 handle. I am glad that Kershaw is using that Sandvik steel. It seems to be good quality, and I think it really keeps the price down nicely on USA made Kershaws. I like fancy steel, but I also like money in my pocket too.:)

You're welcome aafanatic. I was extremely happy to find out that my "weird" Speed Bump had aluminum scales. Oddly, it was something I'd wished Kershaw had made --- and I actually got my wish! I think you'll be pleased with yours. :D

You find some of the coolest people in some of the strangest places, Hey aafanatic , how are your Kershaws ? I know they are the greatest knives ever Huh ?

Dave

I'm going to call NGK tomorrow and find out. I talked to them a couple weeks ago and they didn't have any yet, nor did they know for sure if they were going to get any.

Hey all of you Kershaw crazed People , you need to come to Eugene , Oregon in April, It is one of the best knife shows in the world. I will have a display table with Kershaw knives from the seventies to present times. It will be a fun time and over 450 tables of knives to put your hands on. This will be my first display of my Kershaw collection, I think it will be a nice looking display, Hey it's Kershaw !!!

For those of us that can not make it, how about taking a good photo of that collection.

Thanks Dave,
I have tried many forums, but this is the only one that I have felt at home in. All the knives that I have are Kershaw and I use them all:
2 Bumps 1590
2 Speed Bumps 1595
2 Spec Bumps 1596
3 Offset 1597
1 ZT0301
1 ZT 0400
&1 Seagal 1680
I love 'em all.
Hey Kershaw guy, tell us more about this knife show.

I can tell you that it is on Friday April 13th ( Oregon Knife collectors Assoc. members only that day) and Sat 14th thru Sun 15th, we have nearly 470 sales tables with people from all over the world attending. The outside walls have all the displays , including mine. Kershaw has a table every year and Thomas has been there at most shows. It is one of my favorite times of the year , right along with the famous Kershaw warehouse sale. aafanatic, I bet you still haven't figured out where you know me from have you ? rnhood N.C. isn't that far, some folks come from Japan and south Africa, and other far away places. Hey Thomas you are going to be at the Eugene show this year , Right ??????

Dave

Will Kershaw be making any lockbacks with 13C26?
Nothing on the table today Thom.
Any sightings of the ZDP Mini Cyclone yet?
All 800 pieces will ship this month, a few hundred will go out by 3/19.
last I heard was projecting them to be out in April.
Looks like May/June on the NRG's Max.
I know that it is supposed to be about Kershaw news, but it is more like a Kershaw-Family newsletter. It is like a magazine about Kershaw products, the people that make them, and the people that use them. I love Kershaw Knives. One of my favorite things to think about is which one I am going to buy next.
aafanatic, really cool post. I have been enjoying the thread as well, and feel the same as you.

Let's see, anything changed over the last 16 months with the Ripcord......hmmmmm....no, not really.

Should now be available at all fine cutlery outlets.
