Kershaw Knives News Thread

Thomas is the torx tool that SMKW offered with the purchase of a Cyclone going to be something that Kershaw will offer for sale on a regular basis, I really liked the idea of the tool but couldnt afford a Cyclone at the time.

aa, the black 3-D machined G-10/Grey 440C MIM blade combo is the new 2007 version of the Offset. It will be shipping over the next few weeks.

Thomas, the new Offset looks too good to be true. I will probabley have to buy two or three. Have you ever seen a 1590 bump in the strange yellowish color from the previous page?

Jujigatame (how's Kesagatame doing by the way?),

Figured it out and it didn't require the strength training (though it's now easier to crush cans...). My regular EDC is Kershaw's External Toggle folder. It opens quicker and quieter with gentle finesse than with explosive actions. The JYD II, opened without attempts to be gentle, just pops open and locks while the edge sneers at me and says "about time you acted like a grownup, you monkey."

Kesa's doing great. So are Waki, Kata, Hiza and the whole crew. ;)

I get your point on having different carry knives that require different techniques or levels of force. Sometimes it's hard to get my brain to remember which knife needs a hard thumb and which just needs a gentle push.

Thomas, or anyone, what is the difference between these two knives?

they look the same to me, other than the model number and price.
BlackOpsSec, welcome to the forums, to answer your question, the only difference between the two knives would be the finish. The CGTST would have a satin finish, the G10ST a stonewash. As far as the qty produced, both were short runs. There were 128 pieces of the CGTST produced, and 259 pieces of the G10ST.

It must be the way the picture turned out, as there were only 3 variations, green, blue, and grey.

Thomas I must say I am thrilled to be the New owner of another Kershaw to my collection! The Groove is a fantastic looking knife with excellent ergo's! However I am a bit disappointed:( ......NO More like extremely disappointed:( that the one I just bought from an ebay Seller and this is Brand new in the package has rust specks all over the striations of the blade, although small in nature they are never the less still visible! I usually expect to see or feel some oil or rust preventative on the blades from the factory looks like mine was missed it has pock marks of Rust all over the striations or grooves in the blade:grumpy: Mine says it has a date of Jan. 07 so its not the 440A version I know of your excellent customer service and I have dealt with other issues that were resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner! What do I need to do?

Thomas, thank you so much for answering my question about Bump color. I really don't like thinking that there is some mystical unicorn 1590 out there that I have been too impotent to capture.
I just want to say that the customer service at Kershaw is the best. I snapped the clip off my Seagal snagging it on the seat belt getting out of a car; entirely my fault. Without hesitation the warrenty dept. offered to send me a new clip. The knife would be little better than a conversation piece without the carrying clip, and now it can enjoy a lifetime of service for which it was designed.

Hi denny, welcome to the forums.
Sorry to hear your Groove got to you with some corrosion on the blade. Certainly you can send it back for warranty if needed. There are some various metal cleaners that should clean it up quickly, but do whatever you are most comfortable with. We can turn a new Groove around quickly for you.

We have had some minor corrosion issues with 13C26, but most are very surface oriented, and can be taken care of no problem.

Hey Thomas W,

I was just on the Kershaw site and one of the Whirlwind listings I believe has a mistake. The plain edge is listed as being Sandvik 13C26 and the serrated model is listed as 440A. I was just wondering if you could let me know which is correct? Thanks.

Max, well both.

Currently the Whirlwind's are 440A, but will shortly changed over to 13C26.

If I send in my Leek and it's decided to be replaced will I get back one with the new steel?

Not today habit, probably at least a month or so before we process out the remaining 440A on hand.

Now that I think about it, seems there were some purple anodized proto's that never hit the market. Other than that, just the 3 color variations.

I need a little help from my fellow Kershaw admirer's.Are the kershaw 1725 Junkyard Dog 2's any good? Does anyone own one? Any information would be helpfull. Thanks in advance,Robert.
