Kershaw Knives News Thread

Could you please come out with a new version of the titanium framelock bump? Mine is no longer with me and I miss it. But I hate buying the same knife twice. Maybe something even wilder, but still anodized titanium. Could you work purple in? I just love that knife...

AM, we will have a couple different Ti framelocks (not Bumps) out in 2007, hopefully one will fit your fancy.

JSR, thanks for starting that 13C26 thread.

I agree the G-10 Speed/Spec Bump is more better (is that an actual term) than the double injection molded Speed Bump.
There was only 500 pieces of the G-10 Spec/Speed Bump, so don't miss out.

Dangit!...there were a couple of places I thought had the Speed/Spec in stock and turned out they didn't. Can't find it now. Oh well. I guess I'll wait for some of the new 07 offerings. I'm so impatient...I want to see them!!!:p

How about a Christmas present for the locals tomorrow in the form of the Zero Tolerance line on sale Thomas?

I would really jump at a 0300 on sale. Big, quick catch-some-air kind of jump.

That is the kind of event enthusiasts would talk about for years.

You have my best wishes for a terrific parking lot sale this weekend. And, thank you kindly for all of your patience and contribution here.

All the best,

oregon

Awesome, just please keep them as wild and colorful as the original Bumps. The market is surrounded by boring gray titanium framelocks. And, please, pleasseee make a non coated blade an option.

oregon there is just a handful of ZT's at the sale (gotta get here early). The line outside started at 5:00 am yesterday!! Doors open in about an hour.

thank you kindly for all of your patience and contribution here.
Well that 13C26 thread all but exhausted me, but it is good to be able to give you all some hopefully valuable Kershaw information.

AM, I think you will be happy with one of the 2 new Ti framelocks (color).

Thomas - I appreciate your participation on these forums. Sorry for the way the 13C26 thread has turned out. I've gotten some good info from that thread on the characteristics of 13C26, so I'd be fine if you didn't participate in the 13C26 thread any longer and let it die or get closed. I think that thread's gotten out of hand, but I'm glad you provided the information to me.

As I mentioned, Kai is committed to be a true US manufacturer. We are self sufficient and are looking to expand on what we have already accomplished. It takes a ton of work to get it done here in the states, but it can in fact be done..... I believe our products are superior now than in the past, and we will continue pushing so to make USA made knives with genuine quality, and a true value for our customer base. To do this in volume is a daunting task, one that we are all very proud of, and I have confidence it translates into a satisfied ELU. QUOTE]

Thomas, I've been away from the forum for a while (at deer camp!) but was thrilled to read your above post. I am pretty open and accepting of imported goods but prefer to buy US made stuff.

I passed my Leek around camp one night and everyone was impressed with it. Most of the guys were not familiar with Kershaw (none of them are really into knives) so it led to a discussion about Kershaw and the topic about US made knives. Three of them said they were going to buy a Leek when they got home! Do I get a commission? :)

Thank you Kershaw for the factory sale.
I wouldn't be interested in knives if it were not for your factory sale.
All but one of my kitchen knives came from your factory.
The staff working the sale was very professional. If they didn't know the answer to a question, they would get someone who did.

Those ZT 200's and 300's sure went fast. Steve Michels at ZT was a good man to talk with. I bumped into you too Thomas, but you were busy most of the time.

Thanks Kershaw.
Good knives. Good people. Good sale.

Well, the lines were long today. I waited in line for well over an hour (in the cold and light rain) this afternoon. I picked up a pink Leek for my daughter, steak knives for my wife, cutting boards and fly tying scissors for me and friends. BUT, tomorrow is another day and I'll have to see what Kershaw has out there for ME.

I didn't see Thomas. Thomas you must have been there. If you're there tomorrow I'll say hello personally for everyone here who is not able to see you face to face and thank you.

last item for this post: what would you purchase at the factory sale if you could go?????

Waited longer than ever before in line but it's always fun to go to the factory sale. I'm always favorably impressed by the technical knowledge that many of the Kershaw people have and they are great about taking time, even when it's busy, to answer questions. All are very fine people. They're busy so I'm surprised that Thomas has the time to post here. I rarely post, but I read a fair amount. I told Thomas that I thought that most of the people appreciate the time he takes out of his day to post to the forum here. There's a guy who is clearly knowledgeable but who is more interested in helping than in telling you how much he knows. You discover how knowedgeable he is after talking with him and despite the fact that he understates most things here, he knows knives. There are some great knives coming out too and we saw a glimpse this weekend.

Yeah, I'd buy one of everything, but I have enough for this week and I have other hobbies to support. I'd like to have picked up another spec bump but they were all gone by the time I got there! I was fortunate to locate a rescue blur for my son though. Better luck next year. Just another excuse to go back.

Thanks Kershaw and Thomas.

Sort of irrelevant, but I bought a Kershaw Storm II today and I really like it. The only thing I could find that I didn't like, was the flipper is just a tad bit too small. It still works very well for me, but it would be nice if it were a little larger.

Good work Kershaw:)

Jeff in time your SII will smooth out from breaking in and you'll find that the flipper works fairly well actually.

Funny, because I've had a Storm II for quite a while now and its one of my favorite EDC knives in my line up during the summer months. I generally sway away from knives that are all stainless in the winter months because working outside I don't like noticing how cold they. In contrast I really sway from ones that rust in the summer and the 13C26 has a really great corrosion resistance.

I just ordered a Strom I today and look forward to the smaller size.

One of the things I like the best about Kershaws knives is their serrations. I think theirs are the best in the industry right now personally and love it on every knife I own that has them like the ones that come on this model. I love my Kershaw ZT0200 but wish it was a serrated model rather than PE because of how well their pattern performs.

Thomas. A little commendation from someone that I recommended to buy a Kershaw Shun kitchen knife.

He said a while back, the advertising seemed to intimate that Kershaw branded Shun knives were made in the USA. I said the one I purchased in the UK was definitely made in Japan and was branded Kai. In this thread you said that Kershaw branded Shuns were made in the Japan, so I wrote and told him. I got this reply a couple of days ago.

Hi Andrew. Good memory on your part. I really like Kershaw as a company. I scratched up my chef's knife, and asked them if they could polish it out at my expense. They sent me a new one. How's that for service.
Have a good holiday season.
Regards,
Steve

Thomas - can you show any pictures of the Lahar? I'm thinking about splurging on a purchase now, but am wondering if I should wait for the Lahar as it sounds like what I'm looking for. If I get one now, I can't get the Lahar later.
