The Blur is an amazing knife, made even better with the S30V steel. While Kershaw makes knives in Japan and China, the Blur series are all made in the USA. Take a look at your box/clam pack. What does it say on it? Also, post a pic of your blade if possible.

just because it is made in the USA does not mean it is the best. I have sean some that where made in the USA are they where a big peace of junk too.

Of course not. Every now and again you get a dud. It's a fact of life. Happens to every company, whether it's knives, cars, electronics, etc. I will admit I own some China-produced knives from my favorite American companies, and they have performed better than expected.

Some people just prefer seeing "Made in USA" on their goods. It gives them feelings of confidence and pride.

It is indeed fishy. Looks to me that this could be another marketing trick. Progressively remove the made in USA engraving could be that they are thinking of making them in china in the future.

I've only known blur's to be made in the USA, that said I could be wrong and if you have a Blur made elsewhere I would love to see it and probably buy it from you as that would be the most rare Blur ever. Lots of Kershaw made in the USA knives no longer sport the made in USA icon on the blade. But like mentioned they have it on the box, or if they are made in China it has that stamped on the blade. I think the implication is that if it doesn't have anything on the blade you are safe to assume if is American made, and if its made somewhere else they will tell you

I think you just hit this one right on the head. Why and the hell would you remove that from the blade. I ddon't care what the box says or the speed safe USA on the handle. OK maybe the handle. Why cause all the confusion. Did they run out of room on the blade for this. I will have to post a pic after work.

I have also seen there other models with that removed. When I called Kershaw and asked them, it took a while for them just to tell me they must changed there engraving. I hate to second guess this. I hope they get hell for this. I can't be the only one out there. Don't get me wrong, I love the knife.

Conspiracy theories aside, the Blur is still a US made knife. I have no issue with purchasing a well known brand that is made overseas. With Kershaw their China made knives are made in a KAI factory by KAI employees being held to KAI standards. The knives are not made by in sweatshops by 11yr olds who make 13¢/hr while being whipped by an overlord. Sadly, made in the USA does not mean what it meant 30 years ago. I will support my local economy as much as I can, but won't buy an inferior/insanely high priced item just cause it was made here.

My Lahar, made in Japan, is of beautiful quality.

I like Benchmades too - and they NEVER make anything offshore, right?

best

Word

You won't find one of those "suicide nets" outside the KAI factory like Apple has.

So it does say USA it's just on the handle? If so then there is no confusion. What's the big deal here? Are you worried about the knife being made in the USA or are you worried about where they stamp or print where it says it's made in the USA?

i agree. not all usa made products are perfect. my last leather man surge hade big isues. but i refuse to put some china junk in my pocket other than my phone wich i dont have a option. no harbor freight for me. i have no problem with japan, germany, usa steel. keep the china steel for digging up rocks.

it only says speedsafe usa on the handle. no made in usa on blade. there older models hade this. i dont care about the handle. the blade is thethe inportant part.

You hope they get hell for changing an engraving? I don't understand what you are second guessing. Everyone has confirmed it's still made in the USA.

I have a John W. Smith custom in my back pocket right now, it was made by one guy in the USA. The only marking on the entire knife is the JWS makers mark. I don't need to see USA written in the blade to know where it was made.

For all the dumb things people have given kai crap about, this is right up there at the top...

I thinking of retuning this and buying a bench made.

Prepare to be dissapointed, my new benchmade doesn't say made in USA anywhere (except the box and all packaging material & advertising) all it says on the knife is "US PATENT #"

As to the kershaw blur markings, I take the handle markig as saying "Kershaw USA" and "Speedsafe" even tho its printed:
Kershaw
Speedsafe USA

I read it as the "Speedsafe" and the "USA" of the bottom line being different, not "Speedsafe USA" since the H of Kershaw is a sort of separation between the two.

I think you're splitting hairs here. Do you think every part of a knife needs to be labeled "Made in USA"? If they are marking the handle USA then I think it's safe to say it's made in the USA, especially since they are marking the package and advertising on their site that it's made in the USA. So, what's important, knowing it's made in the USA or having a stamp indicating that it's made in the USA?
