Kershaw Tilt...again.

Thanks, Thomas!!

I am hoping to hear from kershawguy soon!

Best regards

Wow, looks great!
The black makes it look stealth.

Will the rest of the run also be DLC?

HOLY CRAP!

Another video!?! When are they going to stop?! :foot: Don't stop, keep them coming please.

From the Facebook page: Kershaw TILT flipper action: (For best results, view in 1080P and fullscreen)

I really wish I could get this knife but between the two new ZT's I am going to be tapped out :( But I think Kershaw did a fantastic job on it and I do like the black finish alot!!

Well, I guess I'll be the first to be a little disappointed that we won't see the two steel colors and the coppor line between them.

It's too bad that the contrasting blade colors are gone - aesthetically speaking, this aspect is a really unique and desirable quality in all of the composite blades offered by kershaw/zt.

I mean, I'm sure the function of combining these two steels is still there, different toughness on the spine, different characteristics on the edge, but the copper line and the two different gray colors are all gone.

I think hte other innovations of this design will counter-balance the aesthetic loss, and I look forward to carrying mine.

Oh I don't know, I've never been much of a fan for looks at the cost of performance(corrosion vulnerability of CPM-D2 in Speedform and Volt). In any case, I think the added scratch resistance and corrosion resistance from the DLC coating is worth it. Lord Vader would be proud:thumbup:.

Thomas,

Thanks for the pics, looks very sleek. Do you have a photo of a non DLC blade so we can see the banding?

Can it be flicked open with a violent wrist flick only?

Could the knife be locked shut somehow to get it past Australian customs without them flicking it open?

If any seller would be willing to dismantle and ship in two packages, let me know!

I really want one but don't want Customs to get it. :)

Thanks,

Steve.

From the video, you can pinky-flip the TILT it's so smooth. From past experience with IKBS, you would probably have to take apart the knife and remove the bearing washers, then tighten the blade in order to get it past customs.

Such a nice knife, i would not want to take it apart, but if that what you have to do,,,,I like the idea of shipping it in pieces.

That's what I feared :(

I've never had a ball bearing pivot knife before, but all other large folders/flippers can have the pivot tightened to make them very hard to open (except a couple with pivot bushings like Para 2 and Sebenza)

If the detent is strong enough that it can't be wrist flicked open, customs will let it in anyway, even if there is zero friction once opened, as long as it's not assisted.

Hopefully I find someone to send me the knife in 2 packages.

remove the bearing washers, then tighten the blade in order to get it past customs.

That's a great idea, the bearings could be shipped in an envelope.

I had a Ti military sent here, the seller did the pivot up so tight there was no way the blade could be forced open, I had to use a 3/8" ratchet to loosen it, couldn't get enough torque from a normal torx driver. Customs opened that package and let it through ok, they must have been cool with not being able to see the blade!

Back on topic, I'm glad to see the blade has a good bit of distal taper and gets thinner toward the tip (by the looks), great news for my apples and pears :D

At first I kinda missed the original look of the blade. There's something about the offsetting steel finishes and the copper bond that just oozes cool. It's flashy, and clearly sets the composite knives apart from the rest of the Kershaw line.

But the more I look at those pics (and try to wear out the play button on that video), the more I realize the final product has it's own kind of cool, a sort of somewhat oxymoronic "gentleman's tactical" look. It screams class and bad-ass at the same time. Seriously, it looks like it's in a league of its own, and I'm so glad I decided to actually pre-order this time rather than go the Volt/Speedform route and just snatch up someone's leftover stock.

I'd have to agree to an extent. I think the coating just changes the "cool" factor it has, but not so much diminishes it. Ascetically I did like to uniqueness of the ionized Ti, carbon fiber, and the two tone blade better. It's still a must have....
