Kershaw Tilt...again.

For me its not just the design, but the material, we will most likely never see another knife in Vanax 75, but we can hope.

I have to agree ........ its just , the awsumness of the materials used , let alone the design is great in its own right.

I am sure this has been asked and answered already. What steel is used in the spine?
And yes, I am still alive and kicking!

Pretty sure it is the standard sandvik 14c28 but guys correct me if I'm wrong!
Yeah, either that or CPM-D2 would be my guess, with CPM-D2 being a possibility just based on the fact that the last two boutique models with Bohler steels (the Volt and the Speedform) also used CPM-D2 as their spine material.

Since the blade is braised together before heat treat, the carriage steel is based on whatever will react in a similar fashion to the edge steel.

For instance, the M390 composite blades mated best with D2 since they have a similar HT protocol. There is no telling what Vanax75 mates well with, although 14c28n seems to be sort of a catch all carriage steel for the composite blades.

Yeah, I know all of that. :) The fact that D2 was a good match for M390 and Elmax -- two Bohler steels with similar HT protocols -- was exactly why I tossed it out as a possibility.

The point is somewhat moot, though, since in the previous post someone else chimed in in to say that Thomas mentioned it's 14C28N on the Tilt's composite blade.

Thank you Kershaw the Tilt is a home run , the way this thing operates is unbelievable , was not sold on the looks but once in hand you cant put it down .I have had some custom flippers and this thing is equal . The smoothness with no feel of friction and the sounds it makes when closing is like trying to explain the ping a Sebenza makes when closing .No rough edges to piss you off , thanks again ., john

My SW Tilt arrived from the dealer yesterday and WOW, is it something. I must confess I wasn't interested when I first saw a picture but all the hoopla got me intrigued. The detent is perfect and the smoothness is beyond words. As others have said the way it fits the hand is exceptional.

Unfortunately it didn't come pristine, it has a couple of marks on the blade and ti, and has a scratch in the carbon-fiber. Something I am not going to concern myself with...the precision of the action, way the odd looks of the blade and handle mate with them selves have me in awe of this knife.

Defiantly a home run, well done Team Kershaw! Keep em coming.

Every Tilt I've seen/owned has had marks in the carbon fiber and blade. 5 with same markings.. That being said cf is a pain to get perfect especially in this state. On a car clear coat hides these, but if you ever see a race car with raw cf its the same with small markings.

I just received another tilt in the mail today. This is a much later serial # than the others i own and the carbon fiber on this one appears to have a matte finish to it.My others both have a high gloss finish.Has any one else noticed this?

Mine showed up flawless - I just keep looking at it like it will come alive - It is much bigger than I would have thought.

I just noticed a little chunk missing on my carbon fiber scale adjacent to the hole drilled for the pivot screw. But the rest of the carbon fiber is so nice, I am not even worried about it.

Glad to hear there will be more V75 knives, is it still a Kershaw exclusive? At least in terms of a production folding knife.
