Wow,I just heard from a reliable source,that Kershaw's only making 250 Volts,& there were over 400 orders.
I guess there's no way I'm getting one,since I didn't pre-order.:grumpy:
It's not uncommon that demand/orders exceeds a limed editions production run. FYI, we'll have the same scenario with the upcoming Speedform as well.
Sometimes we don't know how many pieces that will be produced. Production issues can cause us to reduce or increase production #'s. What we've never said is that the Volt or Speedform will be cataloged, regular production items. You would think that they would put limited edition and how many models were being made on the pictures with all the knife information. That way if you want it you can make arrangements instead of thinking it will be a production piece. I haven't bought a kershaw in forever and I guess that will continue.
Sorry, no chance on another run with these. Looks like the final # will be around 275 pieces. Thanks for the info Thomas.
Any chance of that number getting any higher?
It's not like they won't sell.![]()
The run of the Volts is finished up, and will be shipping early next week.Yes yes, any news on a potential release date from the Kershaw Godfathers? Still so excited (and hopefully I still have one on preorder...). Are the speedforms over preordered as well?
We have no plans for a larger run after these are finished up, although there is a production version of the Speedform (slightly different from the original) that is due out in June/July.Btw, is it reasonable to expect that knives like these, initially made in a limited run, will be brought back out in a larger run soon thereafter?

So if I snag one for you are you willing to pull the trigger?

I would look to pre-order Speedforms, as it looks like there will be about 300 of these produced.

NOOOooOOooOOoOOoo!!!:grumpy:
You guys go and design the best knife you've ever made, and then tell me there's never going to be any more?
(I wanted a ZDP-189 version. I guess that'll have to wait till I can put up the $100,000.00 for a run all of my own.)
.wow, that's terribly disappointing. I didn't even know the volt was up for a preorder.
I had been really looking forward to this particular knife
.
That's why I hate them as much as I want them.![]()
I would love to see a slightly smaller knife than the volt with all of its lines, using plain Ti and ZDP-189 (tip up deep carry please!)...and in full production so there are plenty around:thumbup:
If for some reason you don't get the Volt, take a look at AG Russell's Aceis. Ti framelock, deep pocket carry, and ZDP189. Done by Kersahw for AG, Kershaw did the HT and full finish on the blade. It is an extremely nice knife, but limited to only 500 pieces.
