Kershaw Volt anyone?

Any news on the Volt yet?

Does anyone have a pic of the locking/clip side?

Thanks

Wow,I just heard from a reliable source,that Kershaw's only making 250 Volts,& there were over 400 orders.
I guess there's no way I'm getting one,since I didn't pre-order.:grumpy:

It's not uncommon that demand/orders exceeds a limed editions production run. FYI, we'll have the same scenario with the upcoming Speedform as well.

You would think that they would put limited edition and how many models were being made on the pictures with all the knife information. That way if you want it you can make arrangements instead of thinking it will be a production piece. I haven't bought a kershaw in forever and I guess that will continue.

Thanks for the info Thomas.

Any chance of that number getting any higher?

It's not like they won't sell.:)

Yes yes, any news on a potential release date from the Kershaw Godfathers? Still so excited (and hopefully I still have one on preorder...). Are the speedforms over preordered as well?

Btw, is it reasonable to expect that knives like these, initially made in a limited run, will be brought back out in a larger run soon thereafter?

Sometimes we don't know how many pieces that will be produced. Production issues can cause us to reduce or increase production #'s. What we've never said is that the Volt or Speedform will be cataloged, regular production items.

So if I snag one for you are you willing to pull the trigger?

Sorry, no chance on another run with these. Looks like the final # will be around 275 pieces.

The run of the Volts is finished up, and will be shipping early next week.

I would look to pre-order Speedforms, as it looks like there will be about 300 of these produced.

We have no plans for a larger run after these are finished up, although there is a production version of the Speedform (slightly different from the original) that is due out in June/July.

I preordered a Volt way back when they were first talked about. I even sent an email to Roger to make sure I was still on the list, and I am. I don't know how many he will get but I should be in the top 25.

Thanks for the update Thomas, and for the Volt information.

Is the short foldover clip, that's attached at the rear, still in? I think it is the neatest clip I've seen on a production knife thus far.

I would love to have one. I have followed all the threads on the knife since it first appeared. I guess I made the bad assumption that it would be a production piece. My last Kershaw was a RAM and there are many things about this model that I like and would want to try.

If I knew how to buy one I would pull the trigger in a second.

Edit: The RAM was the last Kershaw but I did recently buy a ZT 0500 MUDD and a Ti JYD blemish. Unfortunately the JYD blemish I had to send back. The volt is the perfect size and looks about 1000% better than any of the other knives.

NOOOooOOooOOoOOoo!!!:eek::confused::(:confused: :grumpy::confused::mad::p

You guys go and design the best knife you've ever made, and then tell me there's never going to be any more?
(I wanted a ZDP-189 version. I guess that'll have to wait till I can put up the $100,000.00 for a run all of my own.)

I would love to see a slightly smaller knife than the volt with all of its lines, using plain Ti and ZDP-189 (tip up deep carry please!)...and in full production so there are plenty around :)

PS - Thanks for the info Thomas! I can't wait.

wow, that's terribly disappointing. I didn't even know the volt was up for a preorder. :(
I had been really looking forward to this particular knife.

Don't feel bad. I pre ordered and pre paid months ago and am unsure if I will get one. My dealer doesn't have a clue as of now. That's just the way it is with these small runs.

That's why I hate them as much as I want them. :(

If for some reason you don't get the Volt, take a look at AG Russell's Aceis. Ti framelock, deep pocket carry, and ZDP189. Done by Kersahw for AG, Kershaw did the HT and full finish on the blade. It is an extremely nice knife, but limited to only 500 pieces.

You know what is really funny is that I initially wrote the exact same thing in the quoted post above, directed at the guy who was mentioning ZDP. Then I decided I better not hijack my own thread so deleted it. I do actually want to get my hands on one of them at some point if such a thing is possible. They don't seem to have been coming up much at all. I am more excited about the Volt though; it looks so similar to the knife I have been trying to conceptualize in my mind and on the backs of envelopes that I thought I was dreaming the first time I saw a picture. Fingers crossed one comes my way. This is going to be a tense couple of weeks!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. This is the worse news I have heard in weeks. I have been wanting one of these knives so bad since I first saw them mentioned months ago. I have been keeping 200 aside because I knew that this knife was going to come out any week now and now this news???

Thomas, I'll slip you a 20 if you snag one for me!! Pretty please???

Thomas, I know you're not talking to me, and I'm not trying to be rude but I'll buy one in half a heart beat if you can snag me one. As you know it's pretty iffy getting one from my dealer and two in the hand are....

just saying.... Joe/raleigh

This is a surprise. I was thinking the production number on these two were going to be closer to 700-800. I've had a Speedform on pre-order since 12-09. I'm pretty sure I'll get one but I'll keep my fingers crosses. Although, I doubt I'll use it knowing how low the numbers are, which is a shame.
