Kershaw Volt anyone?

You know what is really funny is that I initially wrote the exact same thing in the quoted post above, directed at the guy who was mentioning ZDP. Then I decided I better not hijack my own thread so deleted it. I do actually want to get my hands on one of them at some point if such a thing is possible. They don't seem to have been coming up much at all. I am more excited about the Volt though; it looks so similar to the knife I have been trying to conceptualize in my mind and on the backs of envelopes that I thought I was dreaming the first time I saw a picture. Fingers crossed one comes my way. This is going to be a tense couple of weeks!

3.625" is a small knife in my hands. As nice as the Aces is, it's not for me.
If the Volt were any smaller it would be the same as a half-dozen other knives currently available.
Take the Spyderco Chokwe, everything about that knife is superb, but it only has 3.375" of cutting edge.
The ZT 0200 on the other hand has over 3.75" of cutting edge, but it has thumb studs, is recurved, and no Titanium.

I'm getting an ulcer waiting to see if I'm going to get the two knives I've already paid for. Considering I've been paid up and on the preorder list since The Volt and Speedform were first announced, I will say that I will be extremely angry if I don't receive these two knives. This is why I am a firm believer that money should not exchange hands until you know you're getting what you've paid for, but I guess this is just the way of the world sometimes. I'm just not happy about it.

Don't worry Tony man, I reckon your knife karma is in good shape and in your life will soon be filled with wicked new Kershaw blades. Have some faith!

I agree though, no company should charge for something that they can't ship. FWIW, the guys and Chestnut ridge recently held my card info for around 3 months before finally charging as they shipped (after calling first to check) and Kershawguy has refused to take my money before until he has something ready to ship. Signs of quality in my opinion.

So where were people finding these for around $140? I can barely find anything about them and the couple I do see are $180-$190. Are stores already jacking them up that much? I thought that is what the secondary market was for?

I have been looking for one non stop since I read there were only going to be 250 of the Volt made. No luck and I was really hoping to slip one in my pocket and use that bad boy. I have a feeling most will sit unused in their box until someone thinks they can make a $100 bucks on it. :barf:

If I am fortunate enough to get one I'm gonna use it like a rented mule. Just what it's intended for. I wouldn't buy one to resell it personally. I gave up being a knife dealer long ago and will leave that to others.

I like the steel, and have it in another knife. It's a perfect size, spec. wise, so it's a user for me unless it shows some kind of shortcoming while using. I can't really recall having that problem with kershaws in the past though. You pretty much get what you see. That's why it's one of two or maybe three companies I would pre pay for.

I was just sharpening my Camillus Dominator and realized it is very similar to the volt. That is probably why I live the Volt so much because the Dominator was the first 'expensive' knife that caught my eye and I just recently was able to track one down. Does anyone know if RJ Martin has made a custom version of the Volt?

Wish I could get my hands on one :grumpy:

RJ Martin doesn't have a custom Volt, but the Volt is pretty much the same dimensions as his Q-36 and Overkill.

:D I just heard they shipped. Which means I'm getting the batch I ordered.
Don't know if my bro will have any left or not.

Where are you guys seeing these for pre-order I havent seen any of the three new Kershaws on my fav knife places sites.

I think all the places that were pre-ordering them are full and have taken it down. I haven't hardly any places that have it listed online and they aren't taking pre-orders.

I got my volts guys and they are better than I imagined, serial numbered too ! Sweet, Sweet, Sweet !!

All Volts that I received are currently spoken for, and you guys know who you are, if I have an extra I will post it later.

Thanks

Congrats to all of you who bought these great looking knives on pre-order. I am very disappointed that Kershaw will not be putting them into regular production (except the Speedform apparently).

I heard Speedform at 300 pieces and Volt at 250 pieces.

I believe it was said that there will be a production model Speedform II and a production model Volt II (both smaller), but these won't have Composite blades nor will they be Ti framelocks. I'm pretty sure these will be liner locks with G-10 scales.

Yes I recieved the "2010 New Models" catalog from Kershaw a while back (Different from the regular Kershaw 2010 catalog) and see that they are in fact coming out with more economic versions of both the Volt and the Speed form.

Speedform II (3550)
Satin finished Elmax steel 3 1/4 in. blade
3D machined g-10 handle
linerlock
3.2 oz
MSRP: #139.95

Volt II (3650)
8cr13mov bead blasted 3 1/8 in. blade
polyimide handle
liner lock
3.4 oz
MSRP: $39.95

They are also, as most of you probably already know, resurrecting the Random Task and the Talon. The new Galyean designs TGI looks pretty freakin sweet too. I'm happy that about half of the new USA models are satin finished instead of bead blasted this year!
