Kizer Cutlery - experiences?

Please post some user feedbacks! I'm quite interested now. I might pick one up myself next time I visit my knife guy.

Great. If it's the KI401B1 below with a 4" blade I'm curious about the comfort of the handle and the flipping action. It seems light for such a big flipper!

No it's got the 3.5" blade

You're talking about the tits without talking about the personality. It's great that the flipping action is good to go, but the heart of the knife is the blade steel. No one is talking about how good it is. Has anyone tested edge retention and toughness? Everyone loves handling the tits, but no one wants to spend everyday with a bad personality.

Just get divorced and buy a new one.

Ive had one of their early production Ki302F that a friend of mine brought back for me from shot 2013, Ive used it in my edc rotation since then, Ive used it just about as equally as my spyderco endura and have had to do more to maintain the edge on the endura, both have vg10, and both get used for the same tasks (opening boxes, breaking down boxes, cutting random things around work, the normal daily stuff). I havent used it for anything that id consider hard use, or out in the woods, but the steel has impressed me for edc. I cant speak to any of their s35vn blades, but ive had a good experience with the vg-10 damascus.

Might have to give it a little more time. People are just getting them and likely won't know about the quality of the blades until they get some good use.

I've been carried what I call the Super Tango for about a week. I have used it for mundane edc tasks, opening 2 guitar boxes, mail, a couple of watch boxes, and of course a couple of knife boxes, cut tape, and a steak. Works perfectly, flips better and I am not a fan of flippers nor the wave feature on knives. I have not sharpened it, nor adjusted anything on the knife at all. The blade has not picked up any scratches that I can see, and there are no sharp edges on it other than the cutting edge. Grinds are excellent, very crisp and not softened on the blade or what have you. Lock up has not moved from lots of flipping, it is a solidly built knife, very good looking knife and made with a high degree of precision. You opinion may vary but so far I have no complaints outside of that it is BIG. keepem sharp

That's the ticket me thinks. A very very nice folder. What you can't see and what I didn't notice until a few days later is that the slabs have a milled patter on them in the form of tiny lines done at an angle to enhance the gripping surface. Also notice that the flippers is dehorned so it ain't sharp when you stick your hand in your pocket for playing pocket pool or what have you. keepem sharp and yep your welcome

No the bearing is literally white nylon like you would get in pivot washers.

Tested rust resistance, edge retention, and during sharpening you figure out really quick if it's the right steel due to sharpening resistance and how fine the edge is

Wait what? That's your confirmation it's S35VN? How it felt when you sharpened it and edge holding? Subjective much?

It feels very nice in the hand,no sharp edges. The flipper is slightly oversized,& really protects your fingers from the blade. Flips open nicely, locks up tight. I am left handed, & some framelocks i can unlock with my index finger. Some stronger locks like a sebenza i cant do that with. This i cant unlock with my index finger, so i know its strong. I had a tispine which i thought was going to be great. it was very slippery when trying to open,it was too polished & theres such a gap in the lockbar that there is alot of movement when its locked.& that knife is over twice this price.Where else can you get s35vn,anodized titanium in a framelock, nice quality hardware for around 165.00 ?I thought the boker epicenter was going to be good, but to me it has a funny finish on the blade, the ti handles had pits & almost tiny holes from not being finished well,+ its a dull grey, off center blade, too tight a pocket clip, & the standoffs & pivot disc look like cheap metal or plastic. For a few buck more, there is no comparison. The epicenter is a boat anchor compared to this.If this knife was on a table at a knife show, no one would believe that it was made in china ,or that it was 165.00...

;)I own the Tango and the Recondo made by Mr. George Britton and they are well made knives. The Chinese are great at stealing American made items and making them cheaper and sometimes better. I'm sure the factories they are made in don't employ kids and have the utmost safety regulations. (Sorry off my soapbox, lil off topic)

Not only off-topic, but directly against the statements in the original post.

Most of the threads and conversations seem to either be about or become about the country of manufacture and the Tom Britton Tango debate. Let me be clear, this is not the thread for either of those conversations. This is strictly a thread about the form, function, and build quality of the knives.

Stuff like this is why we can't have nice things. Please try to avoid directing conversations towards what can only become a vitriolic and passionate discussion that leads to insults, jingoism, racism, accusations of racism, and eventual thread closure. There has never been a time where one of those discussions has ended well, and I urge you (and any others reading this) to not get on your soapbox, regardless of where you stand on the issue.

I have my concerns with this company also, but did you even read through those kizer/britton threads? It's not hard to prove a design is yours if you claim you have a US copyright. I saw neither sides present evidence claiming the design. Until we know for sure, we shouldn't assume.

What I would like to know, is if the materials are genuine. Someone should test their S35V kizer against a well known S35V knife. Also try anoziding the titanium yourself, see what it does. If these materials are authentic, I'd have no worries buying from china since everyone says they are solid built.

A good direct comparison would probably be an 0550. I'm sure someone who has tried one of the Kizer S35VNs has an 0550 - with the added bonus of them both being roughly in the same price range, and seemingly similarly thick blade stock.

+1!

I really wanna like this company, stigmas aside.

I think Briton had Kizer make his knives and he finished them. I think Kizer proved this by showing a signed contract on Youtube or some such thing. I never looked it up to see but there was a big hub bub over Briton and Kizer making what apparently are exact copies of the Tango. Beats me about that but supposedly when they posted the signed contract on U tube all the back and forth stopped immediately. Anyways they make nice knives and have original designs. Every body copies every body and nothing anymore is original. So there ya go. keepem sharp

PS I think that fella(Jim Skelton?) that reviews watches and knives on Youtube might have gotten involved cause he has a Tango and dissed up on Kizer and then they showed him or posted the signed contract on Youtube that Briton signed.

All the knives posted by extremaddiction are original designs;if you disregard the 401 series because no one knows the truth, they are cool designs with quality materials.Their line is being carried by some of the biggest online knife stores. The only china made knives i have is a kershaw scrambler, dimension, injection,& this kizer,I was once the biggest hater of made in China knives, for me to own one says alot imo....
