Again, I'd strongly suggest getting a different bank. This running around in circles is just nuts in this digital age, even for the smallest of credit unions. You should also look into getting a virtual credit card, it's a masked credit card number that can be used one time, if the transaction gets fubar, you are not out anything and it is an immediate refund. These stone age style banking problems are really strange.

I'm sure glad that this particular subforum, along with the content is doing what it's meant to do; Inform...I venture in here now and then but one of the things I always remember is a) crappy service b) liars c) either or both of a, or b = no business with me.

If you're being led around by the nose by a local credit union as you claim, then you need to remind the management that you are not simply an account holder, you're an owner.

I find this entire tale a little hard to believe. There's absolutely no reason why any of the actions you've requested should not be done immediately unless your CU is staffed by complete idiots.

I guess I got a good credit union. I get replacement cards at any branch within 10 minutes. A disputed transaction can be done over the phone and the money is immediately credited while they investigate. Your bank sucks

My bank is one of the only ones left with the bubbled up letters and numbers. Not just the printed characters. They cant print a card right then and there because of that. Thats why it takes so long to get a new card.

JohnWE, I really dont care what you believe or dont beleieve, i know the story and i know whats going on. I dont care if you believe me or not. The fact of the matter is, is the story im telling is the truth. My reason for evan making a thread about this in the first place is to warn other members about how crappy knife outlets cs is. And that your better off staying away from them and buying from a other dealer. Thats what this sub forum is for isnt it? What would benefit me from making this whole entire story up? Really

I've seen a few threads involving similar complaints in the last year, I'm interested to see how Fred responds to this one.

I had a problem with my debit card. The teller at the CU cancelled my card, reversed the charge/transaction, and made me a new card -all in about 7 minutes. That was 3-4 years ago. It should be easier and faster now.

I suggest you get the credit card that starts with a D. My ID theft didn't even involve their company, but since I was a customer-- I'll be dammed if their team didn't step in and do all the work. Plus helped me get ALL of the other ID theft stuff fixed.

Yup, my bank issued me a temporary debit card in about 10 mins. My new card got to me in about 5 days all the while I was using the temp. I had full access to my money at all times. Seems like the OP needs a new bank as well as a new knife dealer.

Thanks for the heads up on Knife outlet. I'll steer clear of them in the future.

Just waisted my time talking to fred again. Told him i got the knife which is a silent soldier. I told him i would re package it send him a tracking number and then i would like my refund today. He said thats not happening until he gets his knife. He still thinks he did nothing wrong by charging my card this second time without my permission. Like i said the only way i can file papers for an un authorized transaction through my bank is if they shut down my card and will have to wait up to 14 days for a new one. Which i cant do i need my card and access to my money because of christmas and new years eve comming up. I will not be shipping this knife back to him unless he refunded me my money today which he is not doing, so i will be posting this knife up for sale here to try and make my money back. Unfortunately his company will be making a sale off me but in order to keep my card from getting shut off thats what i will have to do. Lost my card before and it was the most aggravating inconvienient 2 weeks ive had in a while without a debit card. Will also be looking into switching to a new bank. So i hope that everyone that read this thread stays away from knife outlet, its not worth taking the chance of this happening to you too. Find a better dealer with better customer service.

btw their site has brous discounted ... sounds like you got screwed twice there.

glwys, but you might have a tough time recouping at full value... I'd consider sending it back anyway.

edit:
to clarify, i was referring to selling at full price in the exchange being unlikely and to send back to fred even though you didnt want to

Any refund has to be made for the full purchase price, regardless of any discounts that occur after the fact.

Just send it back and Fred will refund your money. No business will give you a refund until they have the merchandise in hand. If your decision is to not ship it back it is your decision to take a loss.

This is exactly right, recently this concept was grossly misunderstood by another member with a similar situation and it blew out of proportion. I do not think Fred is going to rip you off here.
