Knife that stopped you from carrying and buying other knives

For me, it's the Benchmade Rukus. Hall of Fame knife. I've been using mine hard since about 2006. Never a problem. Incredibly capable.

Enjoy my newer Sog Trident and Buck 112 mostly but still checking newer offerings from Emerson or Cold Steel for extra quality. Can't beat a new purchase and the "newness thrill" wears off unfortunately. So many steels, blade shapes, and ergonomics to tempt me. Guess the new want factor will never wear off for most of us!

Wayfarer 247 spear point. I thought about buying a new one in s90v, but it's the same price as the Springfield Hellcat I want (plus optics... Good knives are expensive!) Everything else I buy is for friends, family, or to examine and resell.
There's a few novelties like whatever Winterblade is selling and fixed blades to attach to any new specialized gear pack I put together (bowhunting vs. Surf fishing vs. Trout fishing vs. Wilderness rifle vs. Bugout, etc.)

For me it's the Endura. I have bought many knives since my first Endura but I always end up back carrying the Endura no matter what it is. I bought my first Endura in 1992 and still have it and it will outlast me. I am carrying a K390 model currently.

For the time being, it's this one:

I haven't purchased another folding knife since I got this Maverick, which (for me at least) is pretty significant. Not only have I not bought any other knives in the (nearly a) month that I've owned it, I've carried it every single day. As someone who has been guilty in the past of buying new knives when a knife I got THAT DAY was sitting in my pocket, this is pretty unique. Also, I haven't carried the same knife for three or four consecutive days in a row in...man, it's gotta be several years. This Maverick is just that good. It's kicked pretty much every other modern folder in my collection of my pocket, and I don't know when I'll feel the urge to switch it out. It's just perfect.

Going to buy a backup in fat carbon that just dropped? :)

No, this one has been amazing, and at least in my mind, fatcarbon doesn't look as good as the milled scales on this guy. This was the exact knife I wanted after seeing the preproduction pictures way back when, and fatcarbon scales just don't sway me. They look neat, though!

Alan Davis custom
Biryukov 12
Cheburkov Strizh

Those are my daily "light use" knives. Most of the time ,it's all I wanna carry, but I have to be fair.

Then there are my "heavy use" knives:

Spyderco Manix 2 CTS-XHP
Spyderco Gayle Bradley
Spyderco Paramilitary 2
Demko AD20.5 3V
ZT 0095BLK S90V

Everything else I have to "remember" to add to the rotation.

I've been on a kick giving stuff away. I'm also going to relist a few on the exchange.

'Buying' and 'Carrying' are two mutually exclusive words. One delves into the realm of 'Collection' vs 'Use'.

Everything I collect, I use. Once or twice for sure. I gift to others knives of mine, they like.

A Hinderer XM-24 and a Spartan Harsey Folder (L) have been in my pockets everyday for the past 14 months. I have a trio of fixed blade EDC's I rotate: A Bradford (3.5), A Medford(Necromancer)or Microtech (Socom Alpha).

(I gifted out my Benchmade Hidden Canyon to a friend of mine. She's a hunter. I routinely receive Deer, Pheasant, etc in the barter.)

I literally rambled and really didn't answer the question. Didn't stick to the topic either. Or, did you just ask a question no one can answer directly?

Oh, hey-a cold beer...

Ha! I wish. I have way too many knives, and most at one time or another dominated in pocket time. But so many great knives are out there. I’m not sure anything could be the “last knife I’d ever want”. I’d say I have ~25 (more likely 30) that I would never get rid of. Makes for a great EDC rotation That I am grateful to own.

I carried a dpx triple black for many years, and it was perfect. The TSA confiscated it, and I started looking around. I rotated through a few of my ZTs, but nothing stuck, then I got a PM2. Now many Spydercos later, I'm rocking a chef. Still buying stuff though! 😜

Thought it was my PM2 in M4... Then I got my Spartan Harsey in S35vn, Then the Spartan Harsey in S45vn...! I find myself carrying the PM2 and the SHF equally although the PM2 is lighter with my fav steel...
