IM SURE THERE WILL BE MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS SITUATION,BUT IM TIRED OF MY NAME BEING BRUNG UP IN RAYS DOG FIGHTS,ITS HIS GUILT THAT MAKES HIM SAY BILL THIS OR THAT, NOW SAY WHAT YOU WANT TO THE OPEN PUBLIC!

JUST A "FYI" TO ALL HANDMADE KNIFEMAKERS AND BUYERS,WELL FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS
I HAVE BEEN WATCHING AND PONDERING ON A "KNIFEMAKER",I SEE THESE KNIVES
COME UP FORSALE AND THEY LOOK WAY TO FAMILIAR, THEY ARE PRE MADE CHINA 420 STAINLESS
BLANKS WITH A LITTLE TWEEK HERE OR THERE OR SATIN FINNISH A MIRROR POLISH TO MAKE THEM DIFFRENT IN APPEARENCE,
ASWELL THE DAMASCUS HE USES IS PREMADE BLANKS ASWELL,FROM PAKISTAN AND INDIA,
I DONT THINK IT IS RIGHT TO SELL A SO CALLED HANDMADE KNIFE TO THE PUBLIC WHEN
THEy ARE NOT,I SEEN THEM FETCH AS MUCH AS $400.00 IN SOME CASES, SAD TIME FOR THE BUYERS
WHEN THEY WERE PURCHASED BLANKS FOR $12-$40.00 EACH AND HAD HANDLES ADDED TO THEM
I HAVE ANY AND ALL THE PROOF IF ANYONE NEEDS IT ,ASK YOU SHALL RECEIVE,SINCE HE IS NOW

Well.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but it certainly looks like there's a smoking gun with that set of knives you just showed.

Speaking only for myself, I cannot imagine being a faker and ruining my reputation for the sake of a quick buck. Maybe it's just me, but that's how I feel. I'd rather never sell a knife, but walk away with the satisfaction of knowing that the whole thing was my idea and my work...than turn a quick profit by decieving someone into buying a lie.

Again, just my opinion.
 
Looks like a niche that could be filled here, just finish kits and be upfront about it. You could still sell a s load of them *and* sleep at night.

... a maker jumped in on my thread last year criticizing *me* for posting a thread *just like this one* and i had even better links and pics.

I knew they would thats why i was hoping people would see this thread ,he had already did the knives that were sold for 2-500.00 range,he knew this was coming

I looked at the first 3 links and saw the comparisons..... I'd call the removal telling....
 
I edited my post with appropriate smilies.... I was being more sarcastic than judgemental... thanks for calling me on it though. Seems there has been a rash of negative posting in this subforum. Its kinda bumming me out.

As far as this subject goes in general...

I think misleading someone purposefully to sell a knife or selling without full disclosure with the intent to mislead should be a bannable offense.

I think it would be appropriate to sell kits or knifes from blades you didn't make in the manufacturers subforum or whatever the rules dictate is the proper forum. I know in some European countries some people make blades and some people finish them, this is honorable providing they are sold with full disclosure.
 
It's not a difficult concept to understand. FULL DISCLOSURE. How can you not think you are cheating folks with anything less?

Rick, once again you demonstrate that your moral principles are stronger than the average guy. Most people live in a world of rationalization. They can internally justify anything and everything they do. They sleep well at night, even after fleecing the rubes.

It's great to know there are people like you out there... people that can be trusted. But there are so many for whom the ONLY justification needed is the almighty dollar that the rest of us don't know who to trust.

Character comes through eventually... but a lot can happen to someone before they see he true character of those they are dealing with.

Well Ray , You know me and also know I was suspect of this. I mentioned it to you many times as well as my wife has . Looks as others are suspect also and are voicing it , with documentation . Full disclosure is all that is asked by the makers . Nothing I have said here I have not said to you in person , if this hurts our friendship , nothing I can do about that , you know how I feel .

I also agree with the idea that the forum setting up a sub forum for these folks that do an excellent job of customizing bought blades . They do great work and the customer then knows what they are buying . Some buyers care about it being completely hand made and some do not , they love the art value . Now to some , lets not get silly about smelting your own steel PLEASE . Some do that .

I have no problem buying a finished blank if I know that's what it is. The point of full disclosure has already been made by others.
But what about the issue of claiming a knife is ATS-34 when you know its actually 420? There are a few words for that, one of them is fraud.
 
Well Ray did the right thing by me. I purchased the Buckeye dyed hunter and filed a pay pal dispute after the links supplied. He refunded payment after telling him I had no concerns about pulling the handles and seeing for sure if it was a custom. As far as I am concerned Bill did the right thing and informing me of the fraud. Thanks Bill
 
you did the right thing bill i think there needs to be rules and if anyone caught they need to be banned. a person has to be pretty low down to do something like that. i feel sorry for anyone who done business with him and will never know they didnt get what they thought they were buying.
