Finished my work early today (working from home), and didn't need to pick up the boy for another 3 hours - so I grabbed my fly rod and drove to my little lake for some quick casts...

Despite being 50 degrees and sunny, I forgot that the lakes were mostly still frozen. No fish for me. Lucky I still have some pork in the fridge to cook up. :D

I can't wait for *real* spring.

On a knife related note - Daniel, when are you going to make a bird & trout pattern? :D

Lol, my only relationship with frozen water is whether or not to put it in my drink :D

Re: the bolded statement, YOU MUST DO THIS EVENTUALLY!!! Daniel, a B&T would be most excellent! Maybe just an 80% hunter?

Well with most of the week being close to or above 80*F here, all the hotrodders are out and the idiot wannabes are too, burning out around corners, racing the red lights, pretty much just driving like idiots.

^ Thanks! I saw that and wanted to come back to it now, today has been busy! crazy day...

Bird and Trout!

I'm all about making one, right now the Hunter or even Backpacker would fit the bill nicely. I used my Ti Backpacker for Salmon fishing and really liked it for everything... will be getting a season fishing pass this year and using the Backpacker for trout season.

I do feel that a smaller, dedicated stainless steel B&T would be as cool as it gets... the general pattern is utility and form at once and would be a great platform for all sorts of finish choices.

This is the year of the folders and pocket carry fixed blades... sounds like a good one.

I'm also excited about this secret project... I worked more on it today. I have never mentioned it so look out! it's that good :D

My compressor line will be here in a week or so, I hope for earlier! FBC I'd say Husky has pretty good customer service... they could have been easier to deal with but the lady on the phone was helpful and very nice... it took me half the day but they followed through. I'd give them a B+ which isn't bad these days! :D lol

On break right now... have a bit more heat treat work to do and them am calling it a day. The D2 came out straight... that is the best! :D

B&T would be cool, it's a neat layout even if you're not using it in the field. I wish I wasn't tight right now or I'd be grabbing a Backpacker for spring camping. You can't tease us about a SECRET PROJECT without some clues. Glad to hear you got the compressor sorted out. Later guys.

Rev, those backpackers are deceptively light and sharp! I can only imagine that the new batch are gonna feel like air. Save up! :D

Ahh thanks for asking! :D The project features a pivot and .155" D2 steel. :D

Thanks too! Have a great evening!

These new ones are crazy light and .62"... at the spine! I wondered what a thin Ti knife would feel like in that size and skeletonized Backpacker configuration and it feels good! The .062" is about s thin and light as I can take one but for the deign that is perfect.

Home. Done. I'm taking tomorrow off.

Headed to Reno to pick up dad's antelope mount from the taxidermist. Gonna hit a few of the big sports stores, maybe a buffet too. Probably look for a scope for dad's new AR rifle while we're at it.

Doo Doo Lurker.^
Wasn't that Genesis?
Hi DFK Gang!
Thanks, Daniel. BIG respect to you also.

Phil Collins was rocking it on the drums... lol I can still remember the "Feel it in the air tonight" video really well. ...when he comes in on the drums! :D I guess that was after Genesis though... I was never a fan but that song rocks! Miami Vice style... :D

I think I'm going to dig out that vinyl this morning! Who doesn't know that drum intro?! Everyone can play it on the air drums.

The recording technique used on those drums was pretty innovative, too. Using a gated reverb was pretty new at the time.

yeah it's up there with the best!

When the Levee Breaks, Funky Drummer (James Brown)... those were two you hear sampled on just about everything. I learned to play both but can only play Funky Drummer at about quarter speed, lol! There is a movie about Clyde Stubblefield... he played the drums on Funky Drummer and it is the most sampled beat ever.

I have that programmed into an effects box... lol Phil Collins setting! When I was in a band I'd click it on and play that drum part, then we would all crack up...

There was some cool stuff coming out of that prog rock and later era...
