Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to negligence. If you never want to buy from knifeworks again that's fine, but calling them out for 'dishonest business practices' after a single lapse in communication in regards to a single sale is disingenuous at best.

They charged my card for something THEY DIDN'T HAVE is dishonest.

Its no different than if lets say I sold you a knife, you paid me for it but I didn't have a knife to send you in return. You don't hear from me all week so you email or call me only to be told I don't have the knife and you will get it when I get it. You would be all over these forums telling people how dishonest I am.

Knifeworks is a fantastic company, and will take care of any issue you MIGHT be having. I have ordered from them for years, and have had NOTHING but great service. You should have called them before bashing them here. May I offer some cheese to go with your wine?

Perhaps you didn't see where I did call them...

I can't believe you people are giving me crap when this company took my money for something they didn't even have. If you had good luck with them than great, I'm not trying to say you didn't but don't give me hell when I didn't.

Oh and if you're going to insult me it's "whine"...

I did read that you called, and they are taking care of the issue. You calling a very reputable and HONEST company dishonest, and that's wrong....

Oh, and I did spell wine as intended, I was being facetious.... Thanks for your spelling lesson though!

Your card being charged is nature of the software. You checkout and the software process the card.....So yes its sucks to have cash on hold for a few days. But with online sales this is what happens. As for not having the knife. Well inventory runs out and sometimes the system of checks and balances don't always meet as fast as we would like but it happens. My suggestion to you if you need something for a gift and need it in a timely manner go to a brick and mortar store. Then you have the item and are charged on delivery of the item. Will pay more but solves the issues.

You came out swinging so to say. Honestly it's a simple concept. Perhaps there was 4 in stock of whatever knife, 1 goes out early am from being ordered the day before then 4 more orders come in before the system has been up dated. Leaving the last consumer to be waiting for a new shipment, which they usually get more then once a week. You need to chill.

Some customers have higher expectations than others. Free country. So if you are satisfied, as I have been with this seller, that is simply irrelevant to how the OP feels.

If the seller consistently made even a significant fraction of its customers are unhappy as the OP is, it would be out of business. It's not.

Paying more may indeed get service more to your expectations. No free lunch.

I'm as chill as chill can be but it seems some others are getting all hurt over this. I just finish placing my order with a company I know I can trust to ship me my product and let me know if there is any issues. All KW had to do was notify me that the product wasn't in stock but even the lady on the phone said they don't email people to let them know something they ordered is not in stock. Again bad business practices... Defend them all you wan't, it wont change my view on them.

Knifeworks and the staff have been NOTHING but exceptional???
Something with this event-story Simply doesnt add up??????

Comparing a private transaction to a business transaction is akin to comparing apples to oranges. They're in the same family and that's about it. Buying a product on any website involves multiple layers of software (PoS systems, inventory management programs, whatever financial processor is in use) as well as multiple lines of communication between the software and the employees paid to pack, ship, or track your order. Does it suck that your order was not sent out on time? Sure. But acting as if knifeworks is out to get you (and again, comparing private transactions to business transactions) highlights your lack of understanding of the fundamentals of web and mail based businesses operate.

LET ME REITERATE THAT YOU ARE FREE TO HOLD WHATEVER OPINION YOU CHOOSE. Just as we, the members of this forum, are free to discuss or critique whatever you choose to publicly say on the subject.

Never ordered from them before but will have to try them now. Hmmmmm, a reason to order a knife. Thak you OP.

Trust me I'm not stupid, I know how the software works. I also know that MOST places do not charge your card UNTIL the product has shipped. If their software is allowing them to charge a card 3 days after an order was placed knowing the product isn't in stock then they need to be looking into an upgrade. I placed the order on Tuesday the item wasn't in stock on that day and my card was charged on Thursday. They knew I placed and order, they knew the product wasn't in stock, they knew my card was charged, they chose not to notify me of what happened (that's their policy). If any of you think that is good business then you have a lot to learn.

If you want to continue to love and do business with this dishonest company then so be it, I don't have to and wont.

I have said what I came to say and I shouldn't have to defend myself for what happened. If this would have happened to most of you you would have complained about it also and you know it.

Bash me all you want I am done with the thread and at this point it is going no where.

people disagreeing with you doesn't necessarily mean they are bashing.

most of them (including myself) have had excellent transactions with Knifeworks so it basically makes yours the very rare occasion.

companies are run by people and people every once in a while make mistakes.

it's highly unlikely they were trying to scam you or purposely being dishonest..

build a bridge and get over it ;)

It sucks this happened to you and I certainly don't blame you for being upset. However, you're accusing a paid dealer with a stellar reputation of dishonesty. It sounds like they screwed up on this one, and that sucks for you, but dishonesty implies a deliberate decision to do this and, frankly, you aren't in a position to make that call.

Hope things work out for you on this, but I also won't hesitate in the least to do business with Knifeworks.

Sanity.

Neither does past good experience, as mine has been, prove perfection.

I sent Roger at Knifeworks a LINK to this thread.

Give the man time to air his response here.

And count me as another supporter for Knifeworks. Good folks running the show...

Ordered a military from knifeworks yesterday, will be here on Long Island tomorrow :). your situation is not at all uncommon with many online businesses. It happens, its not the end of the world, it sucks but to claim that they are a dishonest business in my opinion is ludicris.

Being upset over a bad experience(s) is right on. Saying they engage in dishonest business practices isn't right. Sounds like you've been smart enough to never deal with any business who engages in real dishonest business practices. Cause a mistake isn't the same thing.

Ive spent easily over 5k with them over many years and many orders. Never had a problem. Guess that puts me in the 99% of their customer base.

Good news is there are many just as good knife dealers to pick from.
