Knives and Toilet Paper?

Hello all,

What we need to remember in this crazy time is that everyone deals with stress differently. And thats ok. Some use humor, some panic buy, some people are serious, some are carefree.
But the most important thing is, we are all knife nuts. We need to stick together. I dont find this thread particularly offensive, but I have no want to join in. Some will love this thread, some will hate it. If you dislike this thread, may as well not join in. There is no need for “poopin” on this guys parade.
When all this nonsense is over with, we will all (hopefully) go back to life as normal. No need to upset anyone over a very unfortunate circumstance.
I type this in “self isolation”, not because I have it, but because this was asked of me because I just arrived home from travelling.
This is a serious time in the world, and should not be taken too lightly...but a little humor didnt hurt anyone and smiling is good for the soul.
I wish all you guys/gals to be safe and healthy.
Stick together, and lets kick its butt.

Looks like you're ready when the "stuff" hits the fan. :D It may well be hitting the fan at the moment.... a good supply of TP is a comforting thing along with a knowing you have food regardless of whether you go to the grocery store today.

Oh I'm stocked up. Was stocked up long before the panic buyers cleaned the shelves. I'm not a prepper but do have a bunch in common with em.

...Off topic (but oh well, this entire thread is off-topic, including the OP), but do you have an opinion on Fuse replacement lenses? I got a couple sets of polarized replacement lenses from sunglassfix.com, and while they're very optically clear (I believe they're CR-39, but could be Trivex) they don't have anti-reflective coating (not offered by them), and there's substantial reflection that's horribly distracting. I'll probably send them back, as they have very long no-questions-asked return policy. My favorite frames are the Maui Jim 552 Kilohanas, but they were only ever offered in their HCL Bronze and Maui Rose tints. I'd love to have one pair with neutral gray or possibly G-15.

No opinion on Fuse lenses, sorry.

However, CR-39 has been around since the 1940’s and has a long history in optics. Prices for single vision CR-39 lens blanks is very low so your retail cost should not be orbiting the moon unless the blank is difficult to cut to match your frames.

If I have an activity that might include impact damage to my eyewear, CR-39 is at the bottom of my list. Both Poly and Trivex are considered better choices for impact safety.

Out of the common lens materials, Trivex is my personal favorite. Optically it is close to CR-39 but is much lighter and stronger. It has a much better safety record too.

Polycarbonate is a fine trade off and many consider it the best bang for your buck. However, it is not considered to be equal with Trivex by any Optometrist that I have spoken with.

Thanks for the chance to talk shop.

Our practice is closed because of the virus outbreak. I’d guess that probably at least 2/3 of the retailers in the state are shut down.

I am going nuts just stuck here at home.

Buy shares in a retro-fit bidet factory.

Bidet was always the more civilized option than wiping shit on paper so you have fragments of shitty paper left all up in your ass for only god knows how long.

Had a siamese once. We always kept a roll ready to replace the one on the roller so no one was ever caught off guard. One day she came out of the bathroom with the whole roll hanging out of her mouth. She stopped, looked around, then bolted. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen a cat do. She wasn't a big cat... The roll was easily twice the size of her head!

Miss that cat...she could be mean, but was really sweet most of the time. 20 years old when she went, so she had a good, long life.
Was she a Mainecoon?

Amen brother. Have you seen people putting their Christmas decorations back up cause it makes them feel good?
Heck, in WV we just plug 'em back in. Take 'em down? Nah.

So Aaron's work? That is different from what I have seen GWK make before. Thanks for sharing.

Edited.
I'm pretty sure it's the last custom he made. I propositioned him and he accepted the challenge. My choice in steel was 01 or 1095 as I recall. I asked if he had any 3V and he found some somewhere.

You know why everyone is in drastic need of TP? Cause whenever someone coughs everyone close to them poops their pants....
I used to cough a little if I wanted to disguise passing some gas without anybody hearing me, and now....it's the other way around.

So has he gotten out of making knives or is he helping Adam from AA forge knives get caught up? His brother.

Siamese.

Have another one now, lilac point, blue eyes, won't leave me alone. Wants to be in my lap 24/7. Super sweet. She was hanging around my moms house when me and my wife were living there, and the wife lured her in with a chicken strip. She was so bony, but we fixed that. She stuck to me like glue and has ever since.

She didn't used to talk much, now I can't get her to shut up! Always wanting attention lol!

It has been my experience that most cats normally don’t talk to each other very much but, once they figure out that you will give them attention because they meow... you are doomed.

Siamese are known to be very talkative...and very selective.

You have any pictures?

Very vocal. And yes, they take advantage of the fact that most people can't resist their meow or purr. I know I can't... I have to avoid the shelter, or petsmart, or anything cat related. We had 5 at one time... It is a sickness, but they are family!

This is Moka. She's pretty photogenic lol

Beautiful cat.

Yeah, I’m a pushover for a meow or purr myself. I don’t want to go through life without a cat nearby.

We had a stray that adopted us and became our “outdoor” cat.
Then a good friend started dropping by and always brought his dog. The cat decided to move on to someplace else. My wife and myself both felt like our hearts were torn out when the cat left. Still hurts. I miss that cat.

Thankfully we have two indoor kitties.
