Knives aside, what are your other hobbies??

Hi Folks,

My hobby, lifelong passion, and occupation is Herpetology (the study of reptiles and amphibians). I specialize in snakes, particularly rattlesnakes and other pitvipers. Ultimately my hobby became work and it was time to find a new distraction to relax with. Tried my hand at making a knife and now I'm an ABS Master Smith.

Snakes are still my greatest love. The lead me into the field and to many exotic locales. Bladesmithing is totally different and takes me in other directions. Different venues, different friends, new and differents skills.

Below is a seven-and-a-half-foot Eastern Coachwhip, the fastest snake in America. I'm not as fast as I used to be but I managed to chase that puppy down and she now thrives in my live research collection.

Cheers,

Terry Vandeventer

You seem like one cool guy, Terry, to judge by the satisfaction
on your face after outrunning a fast moving snake, but also from
the fact that two great (now retired) colleagues of mine study
reptiles and always outrun the fastest of them no matter where
they are...... They are wonderful guys too.... :)

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Tvandeventer - You do seem VERY pleased holding that Coachwhip. Very interesting hobby. I have not had any for pets, but i've always been fascinated with snakes.

I have always liked snakes.

How fast can that Coachwhio slither? That is cool that you were able to out run that. You have such a satisfied look on your face.

Take a close look at Terry's mark Lorien. It includes a snake!

that was my first clue! I liked the knives so much I actually did research on this gentleman's work

World's 10 most deadly snakes........... and all in the land of OZ?????

I knew there was a reason I haven't visited you guys yet. Holy Smokes...

Hello snake loving guys and gal, here is something that
that you will surely like.....

WOW! That Dietmar Kressler is amazing!! WOW! Thank you for sharing. THe detail on that snake is quite impressive!!

Little bit different stuff too.

My hobbies are photography, mainly wedding photography, and engraving. Still learning both, but also having lots of fun.

Also, investing in stock options. No photos of that, sorry.

Electric guitar pickup cover I just finished.

"vilts',

Ah, wedding photography.... Photographing happy people is
nice in times like ours when there is so much of the opposite
all around us....

You really chose to display some beautiful shots - thanks!

All the best,

Good, someone mentioned motorcycles again.
I enjoy hunting, fishing and shooting some at the sportsman's club.
Somebody mentioned liking older Triumphs, here's mine, '78 Bonneville.

Very cool thread, David. :)

Thanks, Doug...

I posted the following on another Thread but maybe it fits better right here....

Here is a sub-hilt fighter by Edmund Davidson (from 1997) with the Harley Davidson
etch that he used for a short period of time in the '90s.

Edmund was and still is an enthusiastic Harley Davidson rider.

All the best,

Edmund Davidson's present Harley-Davidson, a 1993 FLHS,
is a true pleasure to ride.

He has ridden it all the way to New Orleans (937 miles) and back,
and often takes it out for short 50 mile rides to clear his head during
his long hours in the workshop.

This is the first shot in a series of him approaching the house on
his bike, that I took in 2007. The picture was used for his book.

All the best,
