Knives aside, what are your other hobbies??

Daisy,

This is really lovely. What is the size of the finished piece, approximately?

Hi, Joss, thank you. size of this model figure is 1/6 scale, the decor board behind her is about 8.5 inches high. realy small, so it made the work hard for the tiny parts like her headwears.

most figure models are in scale of 1/6. here I am wishing to share with you one more, which I think very lovely, yet, it is not made by me, it is by my friend Wendy, who is a proffesinal model painter. :P

Daisy,
Both figures are very beautiful and artfully painted. I have never seen anything like them before. Thank you for sharing them here. :)

Dear Daisy,

Your hobby is amazing! Such delicate beauty in form, design
and color - as never before seen on a Knife Forum... :)

I would really love it if you come to the 2009 Atlanta BLADE Show,
and you make one for me. I'll buy it as a gift for my wife!
Or trade it with you for my books....

Thanks so much for showing us these beautiful pieces!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Daisy,

That is really a cool hobby you have. You are obviously very talented. Do you do these models also in a bit more darker style? If so I would be interested in one for my daughter. She is into the emo/gothic scene:(;):D

Marcel

Yeah! I am so happy you feel interest in my hobby. :D
Actualy, me myself as mainly sales, do not have much time on models, so my works are less, because it is very time costing, I think the process is some similar to knife making, the models in parts have to be poished at first, and then do some assembly test to see can they fit eachother well, if not, have to reshape, then there comes coloring, basic colors + shading and highlights for every part, hand drawing details like lips and eyes.. then final ressembly.
For Marcel: thank you for interest, there are many models for different styles painted by the artists in my workshop, :P but I guess that is not polite for me to talking too much about deals in this forum. I am just trying to share my hobby with you all here.
hee hee. maybe Marcel could love to email me if you want to see some more works of our workshop, (daisyyeti@gmail.com)
Here is a gothic lolita girl painted by our chief artist (not by me), I wish Marcel's daughter love her.

For dear DDD..Hee.. I am so sorry I can not go to 2009 Blade show, which is my dream, but I am in China, there is a far way there. I wish would have a chance in the near future! but DDD could pre-order a model right now, because there are many customers in the queue in our painting schedul, you could not jump the queue even I love your books very much. Ha~ Moo moo~~ * Daisy

That is a very unique and beautiful hobby you have Daisy. I have never seen anything like it before. You must have an incredible amount of patience, concentration and obviously artistic ability.

Thanks for posting your work.

Peter

Daisy, I'm sure I'm not alone in being very glad you found our forum and continue to participate here.

There's certainly diversity in the models offered.

One serious hobby of mine has been somewhat neglected
in recent years due to my all-out involvement in creating my
books on the world of Modern Custom Knives.
This love of mine is the HANDGUN.

I am now in the final stages of creating a fully illustrated
guide to the practical art of the handgun.

Beginning from the very basics the book goes all the way to
advanced shooting exercises.

This book will have more than 600 illustrations and action
sequences, most of them photographed over the past 4 years.

Here are some sample facing pages from the first sections of
the book that will give some idea as to my concept.
The book will hopefully go to print in 2010.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Sounds interesting David. I would have never guessed you fancied handguns!

I have always loved guns and shooting myself. Your book will undoubtedly be one I will want to have.

Looks like a very worthwhile book David.
It's always amazed me how many people have handguns yet little or no knowledge of gun safety must less knowing how to shoot.

That is another MUST HAVE book of yours!!

Kevin,

The main idea behind putting together such a book was to bring
basic handgun safety knowledge to all owners of these lethal
weapons, handling them correctly on the one hand, while also
guarding themselves from them!

We also provide all the basic and advanced stages of learning correct
use of handguns through simple and clear yet attractive illustrations
accompanied by short and to the point texts and picture captions.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Hobbies.....Baseball, Baseball, Baseball. Played in HS and College, and play now. Competetive Shooting (cowboy, Longrange (F class), Pistol (love the Tyro course))

Also Paintball. I competed from a kid into College in 3 and 5 man.

They are hobbies, also I fly fish....not great at it but I try.

Far from my only hobby (I love fly fishing, singing, engraving, reading, and many other things), I have made a few instruments over the years. Here are some examples.

Don, Those are some fine looking instruments! Did you build them from scratch or where they kits? I built a couple instruments when I was 19. The best one I built was a cross between a 12 string and a lute.

Good to see you around! I look forward to seeing you at the Wolverines Show next month......

I went and added a picture of me playing my 12 string thing. I can't remember if I gave it a name. I was performing at a coffee house in Mission Beach called the Heritage. They had amateur night on Wednesdays and Sundays. If you drank enough you were allowed to perform. This picture had to have been taken a few months before I got drafted in 1967.

Ray, I bought the hardware and rim for the banjo; everything else was from scratch. Even cut down the tree for the guitar top!
