Not really a newbie here, but didnt post in this thread. I used to play the trumpet (actually untill I joined for military service as trumpetist 14 years ago). Now I play the guitar, mostly for my daughters !

One serious hobby of mine has been somewhat neglected
in recent years due to my all-out involvement in creating my
books on the world of Modern Custom Knives.
This love of mine is the HANDGUN.

I am now in the final stages of creating a fully illustrated
guide to the practical art of the handgun.

Beginning from the very basics the book goes all the way to
advanced shooting exercises.

This book will have more than 600 illustrations and action
sequences, most of them photographed over the past 4 years.

Here are some sample facing pages from the first sections of
the book that will give some idea as to my concept.
The book will hopefully go to print in 2010.

Handgun shooting is also one of my hobbits. A hobbit that is even more expensive than knifes & sword collection.

This is a very interesting thread, with lots of great hobbies!
I’ve only made 2 knives and spend most of my hobby time on old guns, but I’m working on turning that around!

So, I collect old rifles like these,

And for years have done a lot of work repairing broken ones like this,

And since other guys have posted pics of cars, this is my weekend warrior perpetual Money Pit.

and what you mean by collecting spores (microscopic, aren't they?),
molds (do you grow them in dishes?) and fungi (mushrooms?).

sharing my love for cycling with my daughter is proving to be one of the most fulfilling experiences in my life. Cycling is not just a hobby, I'm not sure what to call it, it's so many things all at once;

she finally got to see her dad racing last weekend, and here he is, trying to look fast for her;

I love those pictures Lorien! I hope to do the very same with my daughter soon enough
Now I just need to get me this new bike...

I love working out. In fact, I just finished my undergrad in exercise science and am interning on campus in our biomechanics lab (physics as it relates to how the human body moves given various stresses). Besides that we (my brothers and I) dabble in home theater.

I have pics, but I'm sure you don't want to see a picture of a dumbbell, or me topless, so I'll post some home theater pics.

The system is powered by a computer that plays our dvds, HD-DVDs, and blu-rays through a 1080p projector. We also have an xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii hooked up to it. Sound comes from 7.2 channels of which we built the front channel, the center channel, and the two massive subwoofers (one of them is pictured in front of the left sofa). The subs are 15 inch, downfiring woofers at 1500 watts a piece. The other one is out of the picture [EDIT: you can just barely catch a glimpse of the twin subwoofer in the smaller picture with a wireless mouse resting on top]. The side and rear channel speakers are also not in the picture. Altogether, we have about 5000 watts RMS of audio euphoria (enough to shake the house).

I smoke on average 1 joint per day before bed. I'd say it is drug use and not drug abuse. Otherwise, I find myself waking up 3-4 times per night, often with brutal dreams of killing insurgents.

I love hunting enough my full time job is as assistant manager on a private hunting ranch.
Here's pics of our 1975 corvette when we went to purchase it. I've done a little to it now. I have this an and 07 vortecMax truck that could do wonders with a supercharger and a a tune. Can't decide which one I wanna mess with the most.

Well, I didn't chime in the first or second time around, because, frankly I didn't have a hobby. But, earlier this year I bought a couple guitars to see if playing was something I wanted to pursue, and found out that it is. I'm mostly interested in classical guitar, but I do have a steelstring also, and like it too.

I'm not very good, but I'm having a lot of fun being not very good.

I'm also dabbling in guitar making, which I'm thinking may become a second business, if I'm any good at it.
