Knives aside, what are your other hobbies??

Well apart from fishing me and my buds have a BBQ Competition team. We try to "practice" twice a month, and do about 5 comps per year. We have a blast and meet all kinds of folks from all over Texas. We even ran into the KING! I know I couldn't believe it either.

Other than making knives the thing I enjoy doing the most is fishing. Here's me with the first chinook salmon I landed on the Columbia River 4 years ago. I'm the one with the beard. :D

We have a lot in common Ray! Mines bigger!! The salmon are the same size though!!!!

This is the hobby that has cost me the most this year. It's a 1968 SS 396 Chevelle. Originally had 375 hp, after a cam and an engine rebuild it has a little more. It's not a sleeper. It ain't loud till the law says it's loud.:D

My other spare time passion is Deer hunting. Bow hunting, rifle, pistol or flintlock rifle, I like them all.

These three aren't really a hobby they are more a full time job. One is a senior at Georgia Tech, one a sophomore at Georgia Southern and the race car driver is still in high school. Three good ones!

JP, that ram is freaking insane!!!!!

The first time my youngest saw a dead deer ( I do most of my own processing) she was petting the animal, I went inside to get something, came out and there were "Lord of Flies" bloody hand prints and drawing all over my shop. She loves to hunt and doesn't mind dead critters.

By the way, the dog seems more upset than the young ladies.

Will the girls shoot squirel's and such and if I could get the biggest one to sit out in the cold I would get her a deer, she is an excellent shot for her age but most days she would rather go cheer and text her friends I can only hope someday. They all like to fish. The dog will do anything he's my buddy:D

Hey Joe. What is that double you are clutching in the pheasant pic?

It is a 97+ year old Fox 20 gauge that belonged to my grandfather. My mother who is 76 learned on it and so did I. I am into side by sides and thats kinda a hobby also. I believe since that pic I sent it to Doug Turnbull for a complete restoration.

Nature photography is a big hobby of mine. My dog is one of my biggest. I also LOVE to read. I REALLY enjoy target shooting. I am into my Mac, I love to watch movies. I have a variety of things that I love to do. I am happiest when I am outside, and my dog and I are going for a nice long walk. That is PURE heaven to me.

Joe, Your quite the hunter! Great pictures!

Hey Scott, Nice Fish! I know you don't have one of these. Here's a picture of Little Bill my bull. His father was Clinton. Little Bill is 3 years old. I've been trying to teach him some tricks but not luck yet.

looks yummy, Ray! Maybe you should consider eating him and replacing him with another pile of bull, call it Barack or somesuch:D

Sweet!! What is the one on the right? Fancy wood. Is it a real sidelock? My dad had a couple of other older guns, but they are pistols. A "black army" WW1 vinatge 1911, a couple of top break Smith Hammerless models, a nickel .380 Colt Pocket Auto, an old hot rodded target version Smith K-22, etc. He also still has the little Stevens .410 double that I learned to shoot on. In its day it was a bargain gun, but still a neat little piece of firearms history. There wasn't really much in the way of an American "budget" double gun after WW2, but before that, you could probably buy a gun like this from the Sears catalog.

Other hobbies:

Reading (fantasy, stories about the knights templar/holy grail/alexandrian library/etc, Stephen King, James Herbert, Robert Ludlum etc...)
My favorite author is Terry Pratchett.

Movies, especially war movies.

Nature, hiking.

Visiting war museums and fortifications.

Eating, drinking and cooking.

My humble whisky collection:

Since that pic was taken I added a bottle of Ardberg and a bottle of Laghavullin.

Kind regards,

Jos

JParanee, those pictures are insane. You look great at what you do. Real nice family too! (I know nothing about hunting but thats all real impressive)
